    I just found out now

I have been here before, posted. I now know I can't stop drinking beer. I drink knowing that I will feel bad the next day. I drink instead of doing fun things with my girlfriend. I drink thinking about my health. I drink when it is not fun anymore. I think back when my only son was alive ( he was murdered at 17 by a person he thought was his friend) and I drank then. It used to be a fun thing to drink, but it's not now. I am afraid of the withdrawls , but I am at the point where I don't care if it kills me or not. Please reply...

OMG thats horrible to hear about your son, very tragic.

I havent lost a son, but everything else you have said, I also experienced, and ALSO thought I could never quit drinking the sweet golden nectar of the gods.

Today marks day 70 and I have not had a drop, I dont know exactly how I did it, short of just saying, I wont drink anymore.

Yes, the first few days were hard, but it seemed to get easier, then had a few tough days, sort of a roller coaster ride so far.

Spider, you have been SO honest here, in many things. What I haven't heard, or missed, do you WANT to get better, to quit hurting yourself? You have a horrible, life-changing reason in your son, but is this the way to remember him. Think of what you could do to honor him with sobriety, and the money you'd save on AL. There are other young men out there who could use your help now, and that would be such a wonderful affirmation for him.
I don't know how long since you lost your son. It's an ache that doesn't leave. BUT, what do YOU want to do?

I am ss to hear of your son Spider. The most important thing that you should do is to gather a support system (both real and online) and come up with a plan to help you quit drinking. If you haven't read the https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html and come up with a plan to stop this evil habit. Some people here mod (moderate drinking) but a lot of people here are abstainers (non drinkers). But whatever way you go the first thing that most members do here is a 30 day af period so I recommend doing that once you get started. Take it ODAAT.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Hi, Spider! Sorry to hear about you situation. I just want to say that once you make up your mind to stop with the beer, then you will. Start by cutting it back if you are afraid you won't feel well, and that is an accomplishment. You can taper off slowly, and that is still a good thing. No sense in ruining your health, wasting money and feeling like this every day, right? There are many of us out here who have succeeded with stopping. I am on day 23, so I know you can do it, too.
