    Buddhist Lent

Tomorrow (16th July) is Buddhist Lent and I'm wondering if anybody wants to
join me in abstaining from alcohol for the 90 day period?
No you don't have to be Buddhist....I'm not.... You just have to want NOT to drink
    for 90 days.
Just imagine how GOOD you'll feel .....Lets have fun.

I'll join in. My goal was to make it a minimum of four months and with one month finished this time frame will fit perfectly.
2023 - focus, getting it done, and living the way it should be and being the person I need to be.

I'll join in. This is an awesome way to get 90 more days af! I was planning on the next 90 days to be af anyways. ODAAT
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

I just saw this. Count me in!!

I never knew there was a Buddhist lent -- and it's 90 days? How convenient for me! Catholic lent is only 40 and that wasn't long enough for me!

                        Buddhist Lent

Good morning all! As I didn't know anything about Buddhist Lent I found this online and thought I'd share. Have a fantastic AF Sunday!!

As the seasonal monsoon rains descend over the kingdom, it marks the beginning of the Buddhist "rain retreat" and the Buddhist Lent, or "Phansa", during which all Buddhist monks retreat to the temples. This is also an auspicious time for Buddhist ordinations as it marks a period of spiritual renewal.

Known as "Khao Phansa", the Buddhist Lent is a time devoted to study and meditation. Buddhist monks remain within the temple grounds and do not venture out for a period of three months starting from the first day of the waning moon of the eighth lunar month (in July) to the fifteenth day of the waxing moon of the eleventh lunar month (in October). In former times, this is done to prevent monks from trampling upon rice paddies when they venture out to receive offerings from the villagers

I'm a bit late, but count me in...
My daughter is travelling at the moment and has been in Thailand , Cambodia and Malaysia...I feel that for her to come home in a few weeks and discover that I'm AF, and that I'm aiming to stay that way for Buddhist Lent will make her smile at me in a way that I haven't seen in a few years.
I really love your name LostinThailand...makes me think of her..
Not sure I'll make it but I'll give it a go!! Thanks for starting this x
                          ...peace and quiet....and a cup of tea.....heaven:h

I'm sure you will, Queenbug! Hold on to the power of the "I Will Make It!!!" thought and make it your mantra! Every morning looking in the mirror with a big smile, say it to yourself out loud pure determination and confidence!! Awesome thought about your daughter's smile!

Lost in Thai, CONGRATS on a NF month!!!
