Don't want to wake up like this anymore
:l The important thing is that you're here, admitting that you drank, and ready to do battle again. I was reading about the stages of change the other day, the steps that people go through when making a significant change in their lives. Preparation, getting your tools together and having a plan of action, and Action are 2 of the steps. You have to have the desire to change, have a plan, and keep working it until it sticks. These slips that people have are actually part of the process. But you need to keep on trying to get to the other stage of Maintenance. The only way you can truly fail is if you slip or binge and decide to stop trying.

TWO--good step starting this thread. Good advice too. If you really don't want to--you don't have to. You've done it before and I hope this is your turning point. Hold the slack tight brother.Psalms 119:45

Just do it! Get a plan together and then stick to the plan. And take AL out of your life for good!I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.
Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.
Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Thanks guys, but I got drunk again tonight. So, I am back at it tomorrow to find a way to stop. I have plans, books, notes and all, but for some reason I can't seem to break out of this cycle at this time. But, I have to, so I will do it. Thanks for your support. I am trying so hard.

If you have been here for awhile and haven't gotten the success you are looking for their are other aproaches. Don't stop looking untill you find your key.

Two, dear, you have lots of people here who care about you, including me. Come on, pull yourself through the stinkin' thinkin' that leads to drinkin', OK? It is hard, but you're not a failure as long as you keep working at it.sigpic

Hang in there my man, there is a thousand cliche's I could tell you but I dont know that it would help.
Just imagine the AL you drink with a big ol skull and crossbones on it, knowing full well, that your body considers it a toxin, and does not want you to consume it.
They say everyone needs a "bottom out point" and maybe me reaching that has helped in my recovery, but I hope you dont ever need to get there.
Tell AL to take a vacation, and that YOU are stronger than IT. Also, when the urge hits, say to yourself I dont drink. Then find something to busy yourself with, whatever that is, I have found this to really help. And now I drink a LOT of flavored seltzer water, it sort of tastes like my former drug of choice(beer) but without the empty calories, the toxins, and I dont do really really really stupid things after 10 waters............LOL
Good luck my man, stay here, and keep us postedLiving on Planet Sober since 05/02/11
