    Woo Hoo!!!

This week my work has gone out for celebrations at the bars. I would not have gone if I didn't feel strong enough. Both times people bought shots for me and I flatly refused them and poured them in other peoples drinks. All I could think was there was no way I was drinking that poison and going back to day 1!

Now I am not saying I am going to go to bars and put myself in these situations...these were odd occasions in that they were work afternoons and our work almost never has these type of outings during work time.

I am strong in my resolve to never drink again and I was so proud of myself that I could socialize with these people and just enjoy my diet Pepsi.

Have a great sober weekend everyone!

        Woo Hoo!!!

Good job Red. I find it gets easier after the first hour when you can see the alcohol taking effect - thats when I tend to start watching and realising what I looked and acted like myself. Usually end up going home happy.

              Woo Hoo!!!

Way to go Red! I have gone out and stayed sober plenty of times so now I hardly think of it and just do it. But it sure gets easier when you see AL's effects start to go on people and you know that your not one of them. One time I was sober and at a birthday party, and I saw 2 friends drunk and it hit me that I didn't miss being drunk. I already knew that I didn't miss the hangovers but now I didn't miss being drunk. That was a few weeks ago that it fully sunk in.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Congratulations! Just because others are sitting around sticking pins in their eyes (so to speak) doesn't mean you have to!

Thanks everyone for your support. It honestly is a huge part of my sobriety. I used this site to help me get sober and I could never imagine letting you guys down (or myself) by drinking. Since I am still fairly new to this, I really want to set an example to the newbies. You do not have to give in to the beast, just play it out in your head. How would you feel if you took that drink. Will it help? Will you do stuff you will be ashamed of? Will you feel good in the morning if you take that drink? You really need to follow your inner adult (and not the liar that the AL voice is). Your life may not be perfect but it will be so much better without the alcohol.

Good stuff Red. I have no trouble whatsoever these days working, or socialising around booze. In fact, i enjoy it 'till folks get a bit sloshed and i get bored. Then i just bid my farewell's and leave. It's all in our thinking, mindset, and attitude. What do we really want? The hard and drawn out part is often making the decision, but when we do, and decide our path, there is far less of a struggle.

                        Bravo.
