Good morning all!

Hope you are well. What a lovely morning out there!

I have to say I am having a torrid time of the withdrawals and got myself in a hell of a state all night about sobering up in time for tomorrow and functioning/not stinking of booze.

Why do I do it to myself? I am so mad, especially as life had been so good to me. I am really dreading my boss calling me in and asking WTF?

Aww I've got fond memories of Boyzone. It's the first concert I ever took my daughter to.

Funnily enough it was not long after she changed her affections to the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

EW you do it because you have an addiction, short and simple. That doesn't abdicate responsibility but it means we are not like other people, we need to look at drink totally differently. I know I should practice what I preach and I know it's not easy but one one person can make those changes and it is up to each of us to claim our lives back. The alternantive isn't a life in the true sense of the word.

I know, sadly I can see my family, friends and colleagues have had enough of me now. It is beyond and illness and just now plain 'selfish'.

Now that's the practical stuff out the way. Why do we do it? Like KT says we're different and we're addicts. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

You aren't being selfish per se, if it was easy to stop we wouldn't have places like AA, MWO, recovery facilities and other sites and programs.
