I am awed and incredibly grateful to have gotten to 2 years, especially when I remember the day I came here. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt I was at the end of the line I always knew I would come to.

I thought I could maybe learn to moderate my drinking, not because I wanted to keep drinking, but because I was sure I could never ever stop. Then I found out I was supposed to go 30 days without it first.... That sounded absolutely impossible! I didn't know if I could make it through that day, but I stayed on chat until it was past midnight (when it stopped being sold). I was here all day, every day, reading, learning, never posting (eventually I did). Even before the end of 30 days I knew I could never go back to drinking. In my case, I just don't think I would come back if I did. My last relapse lasted 8 years, so I don't ever take this lightly. If I went back out, I doubt I would even live that long.

If I live to be about 90.5 years old, my sober years will equal my drinking years. But whether it's 90 more years, or 90 more minutes, I am a whole lot happier living it sober!
