So I just got a phonecall from a close friend who told me that someone I know really well died in a freak accident.

I am beside myself because I realize that we all have to die....however I want to have control of how I die...funny..

I am beyond sad here and sober..I WILL STAY SOBER..but would like some help right now..

So sorry for your loss Miss H.
An unexpected death is especially hard, I know. I lost my 18 yr old nephew very suddenly, had his whole life ahead of him, or so I thought.

Stay sober & close to MWO, Drinking will not bring your friend baxk & it won't lessen the sorrow you have right now. Take good care of yourself - I will keep you in my thoughts tonight :l

I'm sorry that you have had bad news. We are but fragile creatures really, and it would be very nice to have some sort of control about how and when we leave this world. Well, I guess we do have a certain control of it in terms of trying to live a healthy life until we have to go. MH you are in control right now by choosing to be sober and staying that way. It's funny how once we do get sober (well for me anyway) when faced with something like this we actually 'do' all the emotions/reactions in a very real sense. What we feel isn't tarnished by a mind in a boozed state reacting to sorrow. For me, that is really important - I get to acknowledge things (good or bad) as the real me. Lots of hugs your way my friend and I wish you weren't hurting right now. Amanda

I am as for your loss. Hang in there, your needed sober now and not drunk. Sending my thoughts and prayers to those affected.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

MH - just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. Life really is so fragile - I guess if we thought about it all the time we'd be down right disfunctional. Things like the loss of your friend should make us appreciate our time here and refuse to use it by living in a fog.

Lav, sorry too about your nephew. That had to have been so difficult for the parents ...........

Stay strong everyone - nothing is made better with alcohol.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds as though your friend was a blessing in your life and I guess the most we can hope for is to be a blessing in the lives of others. In my opinion, that is what it is to be truly successful. :l

Hi MissH. Very sorry for your unexpected loss. In the last 6 years I've lost 2 of my dearest and one of them my oldest friends. It really took my friend factor down in life. Lavande made a point that really struck home with me. Drinking won't bring them back and that is really what we want, I think. Good for you reaching out for strength and comfort. Sorry for your loss too Lavande.:l:l
