Enja, there's a really beaut Canon camera that was released in the US a couple of weeks ago. I don't have the model number but will get it when I get back home to my PC (am away for a few days).

It retails for about $US 700 and is THE best quality unless you want to jump up to the EOS range. The only drawbaqck is it has dedicated battery so you can't slip in AA's. Which I personally think is dumb. Won't be released here in OZ till April or May.
When I get home I'll track down the reviews and post them for you.

I'm also thinking about finding the money to do a phtography course....

I have to come to SF... maybe in 2013.

      Your travelogue was truly wonderful.

So I guess my guess of Piglet lazing in the Bahamas is way out then....

I have no clue what type of eggs these are, they looked rather like chicken eggs to me but this was out in the woods - anyone have any ideas?
Yep, they're the eggs Tin Turtle laid the other day. Tawny's been looking for them.

Welcome back, enja. Hope you enjoyed your time away. You've provided us with some fantastic pictures yet again and you really are setting a very high standard for future Piglet hosts and hostesses to follow. Out of interest, what camera(s) have you been using for these pics? I think you changed camera at one point, didn't you?

Welcome back Enja! Looking forward to more sight seeing and pics from SF. Were they wild crocuses in the latest pics? And yep, I did misunderstand your post about the stables. I guess you can see why I guessed NY then?

Hi Rags. I think I know the camera you're talking about - is it the Canon Powershot G1 X? If so it really is a great camera but I have indeed been thinking about a DSLR.

Ooh, if you come to SF it would be wonderful to meet up - and if anyone else out there is planning to visit SF I do hope you'll let me know so we could also meet up :l Just a heads up about August/September 2013 - SF is still on track to host the 34th America's Cup, so travel and lodging will probably be scarce and at a premium around then.

See above an added bonus about going away for a week or so is that Mr enja and enja Jr are deeply appreciative of me for at least a few days after my return. :H

I'm lucky to live in such a photogenic place....makes it very easy to take nice pics!

You're correct, I had to borrow my son's camera for a couple of days when mine went wacky...they are both Nikon Coolpix cameras, one is an L15 the other L11 and I had to use my iPhone's camera today for some shots when the battery went on the camera and I didn't have any extras with me.

I'm happy to hear that you're both enjoying the visit. I was hoping to get to photograph Piglet and Miss K in some of the more typical touristy sites today, Fisherman's Wharf, cable cars, steep and wiggly streets but quickly realized that the weekend was NOT the best time to go!

As I mentioned a few posts above, I was going to take P & MK to some typical tourist spots this afternoon but quickly realized that it would be verrrry crowded today - so changed plans and headed over to Treasure Island!

Treasure Island is a man made island located about half way across the Bay Bridge - it was created for use as an airport for Pan Am's flying boats - it was also the site of the International Expo in 1939. During WWII it became a naval base which was eventually decommissioned at the same time as the Presidio and since then it's become a popular location for film and TV shoots, mixed use businesses and some residential.

Ssssh, don't tell anyone but that's Mr enja (admiring the form on the statue by the looks of things :H) and Jasper

[FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=4]Treasure Island Chapel is nondenominational and can be rented for all types of ceremonies and services

There is a small yacht club in Clipper Cove on the East Bay facing side of the island (that's part of the new and old Bay Bridge in the back ground)

There is a picnic area on the hill above Clipper Cove - steep wooden stairs take you down to the beach, you can just see the hand rail on the far left of this pic

Looking back towards the TIYC - those large hangers house various businesses

Looking towards the East Bay - that's Berkeley on the left, Emeryville where the tall building are almost opposite and Oakland to the right mostly behind the BB

                          Opposite end of the cove

Love all the exuberant green growing up the hill

Looking towards the city - unfortunately with the sun starting to set it was almost impossible to get a decent shot - these were taken with my phone camera so I couldn't do even minor light adjustment and the resolution is rubbish :upset:

Golden Gate Bridge and you can also just see Alcatraz...that little blackish blob on the right

                            Our two intrepid explorers!

I almost didn't want to post these last few because these should be some of the best views and these pics don't do it justice, but I don't know if I'll get a chance to go back over - there are still so many other places in the city to visit. I promise I'll make sure I have batteries up the wazoo whenever we head out from now on!

                              Many thanks for posting them.

Actually, I love the fact that these pics were taken in the fading light and that the resolution is not so great. It makes them less "touristy" and almost romantic. Especially the last one where Piglet has his arm around Miss K again and a huge smile on his face. Even tho' she doesn't look too impressed. Again.

Enja - you have once again posted some fabulous pictures. I "visited" the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island via Google "Street View". If it wasn't for your pictures, I wouldn't have known that they existed. Thank you for such a lovely tour.
