    party slip

    Hi Gang,

well, I had been doing great. No alcohol in the house. But then I had a party Friday night. I drank a few glasses of wine, not bad. But all the guests brought bottles of wine!!!! So for the last two nights I drank one bottle per night.:upset:

May I pause for just one little whine? My close friend drinks a bottle every night and sometimes more. She is a perfect weight and the doc gave her a fabulous bill of health. I just got diagnosed with elevated blood pressure, which is aggravated by drinking more than one or two glasses. I know, life ain't fair!

Ok, today is a new day. I am putting the wine away and will give it to family members on Christmas.
It's not as good as simply not having it in the house, though. That really works for me.

By the way, I have had hangovers both days that I drank a bottle of wine the night before. I never used to have hangovers like that when I was drinking regularly. I am not on Topa. So I guess it's my body's way of saying cut it out!

    Need support right now.

Ivy, you set out with a plan and that plan has worked for you. You need to pat yourself on the back for that. You know you cannot keep wine in the house and the fact people brought it over for the holidays is just a temporary situation and most importantly not something you did intentionally. Put the rest of the wine out of your sight if you can and get back to your plan. These holidays are REAL tough with all of the socializing going on. Cut yourself some slack. My plan will be your plan come January so you inspired at least one person around here! Hugs!
I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

Ivy, you've had what a client of mine calls an AFGE, or another f*cking growth experience!:H You body has clearly gotten used to being cared for in a much better way and is responding with outrage at all that alcohol.

It IS SO MUCH EASIER just not having it in the house. I agree! Just hang in there! Any chance of getting it under someone else's Christmas tree a little earlier???

      Hugs,

        lUSH, Kathy,

Thanks for the support! I wish I could just ditch the bottles before Christmas but I have to have libations on hand for the holiday as I am having the whole fam damily over for Christmas. So at least I know they have a purpose and I shouldn't "cash in" on them, lol

I did realize that I would have some sort of slip over the holidays and as long as it isn't big time, I can regroup. I do read that lots of us can consume dozens of drinks, hard drinks and like that which I totally empathize with their situation. A bottle of wine isn't very good but it isn't blotto either. yeah, it sounds like I'm making excuses, and I suppose I am for a couple of holiday parties. If I go overboard, then I will be in deep you know what. I have yet to embarrass myself but I don't kid myself that it couldn't happen. So I hope I can have a few pops of wine during the holidays, but it will be out of my house.

Oh, gosh, friends, this isn't easy at all, is it? I am thinking of you Lush and Kathy and all my MWO pals, especially RJ, and you know who you are.

        Love to all,

        Ivy

What to do with the wine??

          1. Wrap them up in some super fabulous wrapping paper and ribbon and put them under the tree.
          2. Ask a neighbor to put them in their dark basement since light damages wine.
          3. Ship them to those that they are destined for as gifts.
          4. Give them to those that are destined for as early gifts.
          5. Pour them out
          6. Send them out to be etched, personalized.

Don't know if this helps. Maybe someone else will share some thoughts.
