I'm seriously drooling here, I love berries (except blueberries) just about more then any other fruit (except apricots and figs) and that choc pav looks fab too.
Now TF: thought we had settled the "was it an aussie or a kiwi who invented the pav?" debate several years ago :H:H
I was reminded on the weekend that my grandmother (my father's mother, and also the mother of my uncle whose funeral I attended) was an Aussie. She came from Rockhampton, and came to NZ at the age of 24, having lost her husband and 2 babies to the flu epidemic that hit Australia/NZ and the Pacific during 1916-1918. (earlier maybe??) I cant remember whether I mentioned this, but one of my cousins counted 87 of their direct descenants at the funeral on Saturday :H:HNever give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

I also meant to mention that we have another SPCA guest who arrived yesterday afternoon. She is an older cat whose owner got taken off to the acute psych ward at the hospital three weeks ago. There is a plan in place for this woman to go back to her living situation, and she is apparently very attached to this cat and her support worker feels that it is important for cat to be there when she returns home. But she hasn't made it there yet and meanwhile the cat as been in a cage at the SPCA for the whole time her owner has been hospitalised. So we have her until we go away at the end of the week, to give her a break from being cooped up. She is a lovely one, and the only cat that has ever had Betty-puss on the back foot :H:H Wookie and new cat are getting on just fine, but Betty has retreated to the bedroom!!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Yep, save a slice for me please
Missy bulbs need to build up food for next year to flower. They do this by storing enrgy from photosynthesis in the leaves. After they flower, they keep the leaves to store that energy. With daffodils etc wait till the leaves wilt before lifting them if you want flowers next year. If you don't need to have flowers next year, you can lift them as soon as they finish flowering.
Pav is OZ. As far as I recall the discussion. Isn't it?

So Raggsey, I have hyacinth bulbs that had a beautiful display this year, but very early, and leaves have wilted. Shall I take them out now?? And do what with them?? Dark corner of the garage?? And shall I leave irises for a while until the greenery wilts??
My crocuses have got buds but no flowers yet. Ranunculus looking yellow and sick. Think I may have put too many in the pot!

Yeah, I'd be taking them out, and put them in onoin or orange bags so they can get air, and pop them in the garage. Just double check with Nurse Jones though, as I'm more of a native gel than an exotic gel. Tawn will no doubt know too I imagine, living in a cool climate area.
Only 3 more sleeps for you...

Blunnies are off! Missy - no berries here yet - had to resort to using frozen but I just HAD to use up those six egg whites from yesterday's lemon curd exercise. And I just throb stirring up old debates so ... who invented the lamington? Iris report - only the purple bearded ones are up and showing. The dutch ones (like yours) have got a long way to go. So far I've had daffs, jonquils, grape hyacinths, and snow drops. Very happy about the temporary kitty. And I keep going back to your aerial shots of NZ .......
