    Aspey,
Gee, how are you and the little one? She'll have grown a bit since that picture.

Arvo all - nice pider, Raggsy. Dog, I'd forgotten about Jackson Wain. I was a J. Walter Thompson Advertising girl. Missed Julia last night but I think it's being repeated tonight.

Meant to tell youse this yesterday. Was listening to ABC radio - an interview with Eva Gabriellson, the life partner of Stieg Larsson for 32 years. I know quite a few of you read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Turns out that de facto relationships aren't recognised in Sweden so all the dough has been claimed by his father and brother, both of whom had had nothing to do with Stieg for years. Gets my nomination for a COTY award. Eva was wonderful to listen to. An architect in her own right, a political activist opposed to the rise of neo-Nazism in Europe and other really interesting stuff- I'll be tracking down her book "Stieg and Me".

      Hiya Aspy!!!!!!

        Damn missed it.

I posted somewhere months ago about the inequity of the Swedish law and de factos, citing her case. The relatives claimed and got everything and she got bugger all so I heard. Wish I'd known she was on ABC. Wonder if it's likely to be repeated. Was it local or national ABC Tawn? Maybe I can hear it streamed or rilled or something...

Oh, and yes, add my vote for COTY award.

That's about the latest I can get. Drat.

Likewise I'll try to get hold of the book.

Steig Larsson's books have sold 45 million copies worldwide. But Larsson died before his series, including 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', took off. Larsson's partner of 32 years, Eva Gabrielsson has been battling his family over the author's estate since his death. Gabrielsson tells her side of the story in her new memoir 'Millennium: Stieg and Me'. The book is only available in France and Sweden. It will be released in the United States later this year. We get a preview from Slate contributor, Sasha Watson.

But this might be the shot.

Stage One of our holiday got done tonight with all the stuff being loaded into the car for Mr B to pick up his boy tomorrow after school. According to the Family Court directions and timetable. They were due to stay where boy lives until Friday after school, when I was bussing up to meet them and we were heading up to the mountain for the weekend.

20 mins ago, Mr B gets a phone call from his boy about how his Mum has said he will be letting his soccer team down if he doesn't play with them for their final game on Saturday, and by the way his best friend's parents (and the best friend) are coming over for dinner on Saturday night and isn't it a pity he will miss it. Boy suggested that the visit is re-scheduled for 2 weeks time (when his mother needs to go away for the weekend). Thankfully Mr B pointed out that we have already paid for travel and accommodation for this weekend, that it isn't refundable and that we wont be changing our plans.

The family situation is for Mr B to work out, so no advice needed for him. But I am thinking that this is the last holiday that I agree to that is subject to the whim of Mr B's boy. I'm sure it is difficult for him (boy) but actually he is getting to an age where he needs to be reminded about consequences. Am I being unreasonable? And what rights do I have given that I have no "status" as a responsible adult, but affected by the outcome?

We are supposed to have Mr B's boy for Xmas this year and I have booked (and paid for!) travel and accommodation from Boxing Day to New Year with him in mind. Told Mr B in no uncertain terms tonight that I am having my holiday next week and at Xmas without compromise.

Boy is lovely - what I said above makes him sound like a bit of a brat. He isn't - just caught between loving both his parents, and not old enough to be able to manage his way through the fact that they cant talk to each other any more.

Well the silver lining is that now I have a bit more time to complete the bit of work that I didn't think I would get done before I had to catch the bus on Friday :H:H
FFS Missy, kill her (softly and painlessly of course) she is a PITA:upset:

                    Arvo all,

Had a fabulous lunch with best girlfriend in the whole world. One of the few people who have really stood by me when I have been at my worst, and now thankfully still with me while I am at my best. Its hard to hang on to meaningful and authentic friendships when you are on the grog and your life is falling apart, lots of folk just cant stick around to watch the train wrecks any more. But this one is a keeper and for that I am sooooo grateful. She has dragged me literally kicking and screaming out of the house and into hospital after some almost deadly binges. Cleaned up my house, nursed me and when I was a little better, given me the kindest and toughest kicks up the rear imaginable. It seems almost unimaginable that my life was so chaotic and destructive....compared to today. I feel like a new person with a second chance to prove to myself that I am whole again (maybe for the first time in my life). I want to run around shouting out to everyone who struggles with the beast that it can be overcome and life really can be amazing and peace and contentment is absolutely possible. xx

Oops! Tawns and Rags I read an article on Eva Gabriellson a while ago and I must have got the wrong end of the stick, I didnt think de facto relationships weren't recognised in Sweden I thought that they had to be registered or something and Stieg was anti letting anyone know his whereabouts??? Probably got it wrong as I said. Might investigate the book myself, the article was a ripper...

Raggsey please leave the beetroot curry recipe up so I can copy it when I get some puter time....

I just ordered "There are things I want you to know about Steig and me" on Amazon for (all up) $23.29.

My bitch isn't about the Swedish legal system. They would have known about that.

My bitch is about the unadulterated, arsehole greed.

Anyway ... skipping off now. I've had a top day shovelling - not shit as in Bridge's case - but lovely bark and leaf litter.
