wow--just now in and getting a breath. Found out my carefully planned schedule for son's activities is about to go to hell in a handbasket. Was told basketball starts in October and was on Fridays only for first grade. Now find out it is Thursdays which is when son has karate--paid for both and both non-refundable. So I asked about a new time for karate which could be Weds but he is also about to get promoted which means he will have to be in a later class-- and they do not have room in the later Tues/Thurs classes. He has soccer on M and Weds during karate times....The sensei in a move like the dude from Cobra Kai in the original Karate Kid began lecturing me about my organization and lack of discipline ("Mercy is for the weak, Mr. Lawrence") for a 6 year old kid! Luke really likes the karate--Lord this is too much-- since he was in public school last year his writng is not that great-- not up to Catholic standards I guess-- so he has mandated letter practice as well as other homework. I really cannot recall homework at 6 but I better get ready I suppose. It will only get worse..or as I told him--you will only have homework for 20 more years!!!
To the good, I have lost 10 pounds now since i started the diet! And that was with a semi crap weekend last weekend for the anniversary. I made the cabbage soup, Rubes, and have had it to fill me up and for lunch a couple of days. RC-- I would love love love to know more about natural remedies. I feel that mainstream meds have often not done the job for me and they all have crazy side effects it seems (I don't like knowing that while a med may work on a condition that it could cause sudden death, diabetes or stroke-- there has to be something wrong with that picture eh?).
G--How you hanging in this week? feeling good?
Good night all-- I am going to take a hot shower and collapse with my DVR's Project Runway

I remember those days ATL, of grade school and homework and extra after school activities, a lot of work. But that is why we have children when we are young right? I thoroughly enjoyed those days even though they were busy times. I know now at my age I could never keep up with that pace so enjoy it while it lasts . lol. I have been reading a lot about African Mango's and their weight loss properties and am considering giving them a try. What type of diet did you start that you already lost weight? I once said jokingly that I would try almost anything / any diet to lose weight, even dog poop on a cracker. LMAO just kidding. But I think you feel my desperation here. I have Hoshimoto's Thyroid disease which is an autoimmune disorder. My daughter has it too, she had to have her thyroid removed at age 11 because hers had become so enlarged. My surgery is just a matter of time if my doctor is correct. Gonna go to bed now. Goodnight all. G

Morning! Going on Day 9 AF!! Busy weekend coming up! Soccer today and tomorrow, play dates for kiddos and the big one, dedicating the WTC artifact our County Fire Authority received for 9/11. Hubby is a Fire Fighter and will stand up with all the other brave men/women who risk their lives everyday. It will be emotional. I have to say, this site is pretty overwhelming. I jump from the Getting Started forum, Monthly Abbers/Moderators, and the like but I post more on this one. I just want to say I think about everyone everyday.'You might not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you!' - Walt Disney

G--I think the reason I have lost is first that I cut AL to zero (all those daily cals plus the crap I would eat after I drank) and next I stopped eating any fast food. I am pretty much on Weight Watchers because that is what my husband is doing. I am a very high weight for my height so some loss was probably inevitable just with minor cuts. My dad had thyroid cancer and had to have his thyroid out last summer. He is still adjusting to the synthroid. He was always fit and has even lost weight at 78 but he is always tired. I have 45 to 50 left to go so I will be doing it for awhile.
Funny you should mention kids while young-- I am not young-(hee)-- I am 44 with a 6 year old, hubs is 48. This is our only child. Health and other garbage got in the way of others and now we are likely too old to do it. Our son is great though. We both have alot of energy for old people (ha) even though I am heavy I still do pretty much everything-- I am just tireder at the end of the day! In my head I am still 25 years old, going to concerts and enjoying my husband, dancing and singing with my child (this morning it was "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred-- if you have small children, peeps, I recommend it-- the carpool was quite entertained by the car dancing this a.m.
Rubes-- your places look great--isn't it nice to have a handy hubs? My dad was hopeless-- he could not even change batteries much less home improvement. My hubs is pretty good at that stuff too-- he just does not have time with the job though I imagine with the recent projects I have dreamed up he will at least make time to paint since hiring it done is outrageous. I would like to rip some carpet out of my master bath (that really dates the bathroom-- it is half carpet and half tile with loads of gold fixtures-- I feel like I am in Trump Tower) and tile but that is likely a job for the pros. We woudl love to move-- not because our house does not suit us-- it is fine but because we want to live closer to midtown ATL and have just a bit of back yard. We are thinking of doing a tear down in the future. With housing prices as they are it makes no sense to try to sell when you do not have to do it.
Son is at a playdate after school until after 7 p.m. That menas I have nothing really huge to do until later-- I think I will go walk in the cooler weather. Hope all have a great day!

Tired, my SIL is a firefighter, so I'm with you and your family through the next few days.
ATL, that's a rental Hubs is working on. I'm the last in line for improvements, it seems.
Have to run to the bank, then over to the rental to help him finish some grout (think he just wants me to bring him lunch and keep him company! :H).sigpic

Good Morning everyone! Gosh - ATL, I am glad that you are losing - my daughter did on WW on-line and found it really good. Good for you on the no AL too - well done! I agree with feeling young still - in my head I am still the same as I was when I was in my 20's and sometimes when I pass a shop window or something have to do a double take and wonder WHO that old lady was that I saw!! (Be quite Ruby!!!!)
Georgie - hope you are feeling better? And not so overwhelmed? Just stay and vent whenever you need to... have you tried the WW on-line? you ought to give it a go.... how is the AL going? Let us know if you want to... :l
Tired - so nice to have you on our thread - sort of a crazy bunch - especially the OLDEST lady in the world (Ruby) and we have quite a few missing right now, but hopefully they will be back soon.... I think this weekend is going to be a really emotional one for all of us- I have my flags ready to put out...... I am finding it hard to watch the 9/11 stuff they are showing already, it is just SO sad. WONDERFUL on day 9 - that is so awesome - well done.
Ruby - lots of pics of Ninny - she is so sweet! And the stuff that hubs builds - amazing. You sound your usualy busy self. I am off today - 'cos I had to work the Holiday, I have today off instead - nice. I had planned on being in the garden - BUT we have had drizzley rain - not enough to help the solid concrete that is supposed to be my garden but enough that I can't get out there. Bummer. Oh well, I have lots to do inside that I can catch up on.
Hi Rog - great to see you off to work Mish - hallo! Jan - congrats on your award - GO YOU!!! You clever little clogs you... Now - has anyone heard anything from Vicki yet? This is getting really worrysome. Greatful - I know you are lurking - have you managed to find anything out? And Great - please pop in and say hi - we all miss and love you :l:l
Fen - have a good weekend!! RC - hope things are going well for you and that you are feeling better. Tony - where are you?? Nora - how about popping in??? Hi Bird - sorry about the thing at work.....good for you defending yourself though!
I have probably missed someone - sorry! off to do something!! back later,
love and hugs, Sun XXHow simple it is to see that we can only be happy now and there will never be a time when it is not now....

Good morning All. Small gains—no aches and ears feel better. It really wants to take up residence in my chest. More of the same for my medicine today. My friend text me that she was up at 4 am making cayenne tea! LOL Not happy she’s sick but kinda funny the cayenne reference. To me anyways. Oh shut up RC.
Has anyone tried calling Vicki? I thought you all kept each other’s numbers? It would be nice to know she is alive—yeah, I’m beginning to worry now too.
ATL I think everyone should be taught natural remedies and proper nutrition from Kindergarten up! But that’s not going to happen so, it’s up to us as individuals to learn it or go to some one who you trust and respect for advice. I could recommend some very good old standards for reading, if you like. We could PM this information. I couldn't agree more about the side effects from pharma drugs. Not only that they are band-aids and don't actually support the body's natural ability and desire to be well. Ok, off my soapbox.
Well best get busy with an incoming order and need to place one too. Major doo when on a very tight string.
Be well All. xoPsalms 119:45
