        Hello all--I am just now making it here-- for the 4th year in a row I believe I am the first person to get the flu in this whole city of 5 million. I woke up with fever, swollen glands and extreme body aches. Went to urgent care as soon as it opened-- they did a test for flu antibodies (I guess so they can give that tamiflu stuff if it is within a day of getting sick) and yep, flu. However, I am allergic to tamiflu anyway so the test was not necessary. Just to vent--hub was supposed to take son to church because I was sick, he did not which riles me since I think he often conveys the attitude to son that church is optional or last in line (son can decide that when he wants to but at 6 I think it important that he learns church is a place of respect not a condo association!) then was supposed to take him to get fitted for his hockey equipment (I have never worn that stuff and hubby is on 2 teams so this makes sense). It is now nearly 2, hockey place is an hour away almost and they have not gone. I know I am contagious so I need to go back to bed--hubs acts as if this flu will last one day at most and I will be back to do everything he did not do...oh well -- sorry all-- I just feel so sick that I am getting ornery. I probably will not be on much for a bit as I need to sleep-- it is all I feel like doing.

          ATL, it's a man thing. If it was him, he'd have you calling the funeral home.
          SO sorry you're feeling so bad, but make sure you don't overdo to compensate for him expecting you to do everything. Go to bed. Lots of fluids. Those 2 guys will survive, and it will teach them something about your importance. :hug:

            Good one Ruby! LOL I have just got back from a ride on my motorcycle. The temps are around 80 and it was SO nice. I have to laugh at Maggie - the squirrels get on the birdfeeder and she isn't fast enough to catch them - so she is now sitting UNDER the bird feeder, waiting for the squirrels to come to her. Bless her little cotton socks. Still, for a dog that the vet gave 2-4 months to live back in April, she can do what she pleases!! It is so nice out. think I might get out in the garden for an hour or so and move some stuff before the cold weather sets in.

            ATL - so sorry you have the flu - that is horrid - I have had it once 16 years ago!! Just rest, drink lots of fluids and let hubs do stuff - you need to get better. he needs to understand that you need your rest!!! feel better!!

              Sun, Maggie's presence is enough, and she knows it. Bless her. It's her little victory's that count, and this is a good one.
              Forced son, cousin, and Hubs to meet, face to face, and work out this land deal. It's always me as the go-between, so I'm REALLY fed up with the man thing. If that's how they want to roll, so be it!!

                  Hello all--just checking in-- the cook top and dryer broke within an hour of each other-- making dinenr and washing impossible. Now to add having the appliance fixer over-- he is this Russian dude who I swear looks like he may have been a victim at Chernobyl but if he can fix them I don't care if he has hooves and a curly tail. Finally pushed hubs with son out to the hockey store an hour before it closed. The bed is calling my name. Rubes -- is this weather not awesome? Would be great walking weather if I was not ill!

                    ATL, please take some ibuprofen or something for your body aches. The last time I had the flu, my dad died. I was so not in a condition to assist my mom , but I did. Would you consider getting a flu shot? I have done so every year since my dad died.

                          Fen--I just about get it once a year due to my immune system-- I have a blood disorder that compromises me. I have had a flu shot yearly and still I get it! I am taking ibuprofen-- and tlrgs-- normal for me will be full speed-- I will probably just try to be at half speed for a few days-- staying away from kids as much as I can -- and having son taken to soccer by a friend. If I cna knock the fever down I may feel crappy but I will be able to do more things. Good night all!
