Fen, I completely understand how you feel. If it were me, I would just tell them you are going to be gone over the holidays and then go hide out at Tick Hollow with the Mrs! I always get anxious about the holidays because I am always too broke to buy everybody something! Sharla decided this year instead of buying one another gifts, we were going to each pick a family or child off the angel tree and buy Christmas for them instead! That only leaves my family, which there are 18 of us, but I think we are going to draw names, but I always want to buy my parents something and all the kids. Then there is the food to buy and fix. We always have it at my sister's, but we all bring stuff. Thank you for being excited for me and Grateful, Fen. You are so sweet. I wish so bad you and the Mrs. could somehow come. Is Atlanta very far from you? I just hate we only get to stay 4 days, only 2 days at Ruby's cabin. I was hoping Kelly would be on unemployment by now, but unfortunately, she is not. I am taking very good care of myself and eating 3 meals a day! Today I checked my blood sugar every hour and it stayed perfect all day, so I don't think there will be any problems. I love you all! Vicki, I am so happy that you are checking your blood sugar religiously. Please continue to do so!

I would love to spend time at Ruby's place...it won't be happening this year, though. Also, Mrs. Fen agreed that we can put the hosting of our family Christmas on my little sister this year. She is 48, so not so "little" and only one hour south of me. I have a feeling she will dodge the responsibility, but I will try.

Thing is, most of my family doesn't really acknowledge or accept that I'm gay. And I'm tired of hosting their drunk selves here. Time for my sister to pick up the slack.

Truthfully, I love the people here more than I love my own family.

I hope that you and Grateful have a lovely time!

Fen, 'family' has a lot of meanings, and if you're not accepted for the wonderful person you are, it's their loss. But you certainly shouldn't have to pay for privilege of being insulted! Tell them to pick another place to revel and make a fly-by visit, then enjoy your real 'family'. Quit fretting over it, sounds like they need to be educated.

You should do what makes you comfortable. Family can be like that no matter what, I am married with children, a home and a business and it never stopped my family from treating me differently. You should be proud of yourself and your life and make yourself happy because no one else will. It took me a long time to realize that it wasn't me who was the problem, it was them. Enjoy your holidays whatever and however you like.:lGina

It helps a great deal to know that I am not so different from anybody else on MWO. Sometimes the "gay" part plays a bigger part in my head than it does in real life, I think. With that said, I do think it's time for baby sister to step up to the adult plate and host a Christmas. I am so tired of the old family dynamics. I almost wonder if anybody really feels that sentimental feeling that family is supposed to bring!

Fen...you are family to me.....and I love you. I agree with others that you should just be with Mrs. Fen and whomever you wish for the holidays. I hope your baby sister steps up...but if she doesn't....is it really necessary to host a big get together at your home? Maybe you could just spend time with your Momma and then be with Mrs. Fen.......do what your heart tells you and what brings you peace. You are a lovely, compassionate person and I am proud to call you my friend, my family.

Good Morning to everyone! My day off today - running round doing errends this morning, MUST brush the dogs this afternoon, then hoping to finish with a couple of hours in the garden. followed by .... LOL ...... IRONING !!

Dear Fen - you KNOW that we all think you are wonderful and I hate that some of your family don't see you for the truly wonderful generous compassionate person you are. I agree with the others- why on earth are you 'doing' Christmas just because you always have? Let little sis take over - you have done more than your fair share - just go to Tick Hollow and have a lovely quiet Thanksgiving and Christmas with Mrs Fen !!

Rog - so pleased that you got the bid - wonderful - even though I can think of lots of things I would rather do than regrouting a bathroom!! Don't mind the wallpaper removal and other stuff!

Hey y'all-- posting with an iPhone -1 because I am so I'll I cannot get out of bed --had been powering thru minor illnesses for sometime which was not right-- hub and son were getting to do what they needed and wanted while my immune system commenced to crash big time. I told hubs he either must accept less for awhile until I get better or I may not be around (just glad that it is not AL related). Will tell you more later when I can hold my head up-- little worried because when i down last night to get some soup-- hubs was going to send son's hhomework back half done, lunch with no drink or protein and no snack. I told him today-- I cannot take son to his activities and all that whilenthis sick. He tried to bargain with me as to what I would do-- as if I am just sitting around by choice. Imonow he rarely gets sick but I have no immune system due to past illnesses. I have fever of over 102!

Sorry to vent-- hubs is a good guy but clueless with all this. Prayers please as i may not be able to check in much. Part of me almost feels like I need the hospital but I want to avoid it at all costs.

ATL, I'd avoid the hospital too, but you definitely need a doctor! Today. And ask him what you should be doing ie: activities. I say a resounding NONE! You need several days in bed. Make your husband a list, if you feel up to it, and tell him exactly what he needs to do, including bringing you whatever you need. Also he needs to keep cold fluids for you at all times. I was afraid this would happen to you, given yuour medical problems, so he needs to understand, even if it takes a medical professional to tell him! Check back when you can, love.
Vick, the hotel is 65 miles from the cabin, an easy drive. The airport is 100 miles, also easy. So don't fret. I'll pick you up Friday night if you like, and you can check out early and save that money. Ya'll just tell me what YOU want to do.
Fen, my family since my parents died have treated me terribly, but I have MY family, so I just ignore them. Haven't seen them in ages. They're also judgmental, though I have a wonderful, successful life. So it's not just about life choices sometimes, you know.

I think I might feel worse to do a list-- the one I did yesterday was treated as optional on some items and was done half-assed in others. But I don't do myself any favors taking it over. My chest has been hurting-- I am wondering if it pneumonia-- feels very similar.I am calling hubs and telling him he has to get son or make arrangements for him-- after all he is OUR son and this is OUR household. Not just mine. I am going to call and beg to be seen asap. Thanks for the support

Hi, I don't know your medical history but it does sound like you should go to the doctor. Is there any friend or family who can help out? A neighbor? I feel so bad for you. Take care of yourself and keep us posted.
