Army thread Thursday 8 September 2011

    Good morning super troopers

I can hardly believe it's nearly mid-September already. Seems like only a short while ago I was wrapping up well for freezing cold night-time walks in the middle of last winter. Autumn has definitely arrived here and the prospects for an Indian summer look to be somewhere between zero and nil. :upset:

My GP e-mailed me a brief summary of my latest blood tests last night. The gist of it was that my liver hasn't noticeably deteriorated since last year. Frankly, I was shocked. Pleased too, because it means the situation is still recoverable.

Has anyone heard from zenny lately? I read that she had some sad news a few days ago. It's not like her to go so long without posting.

Hope everyone is well and you all have a great Thursday

Seems like I've still got the barracks all to myself. Should I sound the early morning reveille? No, I wouldn't be that cruel! Or would I?

Well, my plans for the day are simple enough. Start with a bath and then wash my hair. The latter is dead easy as I've cut my hair 3 times in the past month whilst UTI and it's now so short I look a bit like a bovver boy. Then off to the local Co-Op to get a few basic groceries as soon as it opens. Feed Poppy breakfast and then take a few nitrazepam in the hope of getting some sleep. The lovely ladies from the hearing impairment team are coming round tomorrow, so I guess I'll have to start tidying up the bombsite, errr.... I mean house, once I awaken.

Oh, and there's a new Simon's Cat cartoon out. This scenario or something remarkably similar to it gets played out in the Reccy household nearly every day of the week.

                Good morning Reccie & RC

It's a rainy day in Cape Town :upset:

Glad to hear your liver is still functioning, Reccie. Dawg... The pain on my right became progressively worse over the years. Towards the end of my drinking days, even a t-shirt rubbing against the skin on that side would be sensitive. Thank feck those days are over.

Have a happy Thursday, everyone. Tomorrow is POETS day, so it's practically weekend already. Yay!!!

Yep, RC. I couldn't type fast enough just to get a post onto the thread, and then he's a no-show. Tsk, tsk...

                    Sleep well, RC.

                        Morning RC and tippers

I'd given up on anyone waking up before midday, so I wandered off to have a bath.

Didn't realise you could feel pain in your liver when it was in a bad way tips? I thought I read somewhere that one of the problems with alcoholic liver disease is that you can't feel anything wrong with your liver?

                            Hi again, Reccie

Believe me: a liver can hurt like hell. And when it is enlarged, like mine was, it also presses against other things. Just not enough space in that body cavity.
