    experience with kudzu

I just wanted to find out if others are experiencing the same thing as I am with kudzu. I find that if I take it, I still want to have that first drink just as badly, however, I can easily stop at half as much as before - which is a good thing. For example - I took some yesterday and stopped at 2 drinks (pretty big ones though, but that's my usual). My problem is, I really want to abstain, I don't want to moderate. I was able not to drink Monday, but by Tuesday, my resolve was gone. I want to be able to not want that first one - if we could figure that one out, we wouldn't be here.

Anyway, there used to be a time that if I only had 2 drinks and no hangover or headache, I would have thought that was great. But not anymore, I really want so badly to just let the poison go completely. It's like I'm doing better than a year ago, but it's not good enough - I don't want to struggle anymore.

Does the kudzu help anyone with that 1st drink craving? By the wa, this is the MWO kudzu - the one I bought at Wild Oats seemed to have no effect:thanks: .

    Hey samadhi,
Is the kudzu the only thing you are taking? You really have to try the L-Glutamine. I found it is more effective in smoldering that 1st drink craving. You can even open a capsule and dump it under your tongue for a quick fix. It kills the craving right away.
I just started campral. I don't know if it's my new resolve, or the drug, or what (probably a combo), but wine looks like stale bread, I've told Lucky. Seriously. Don't even want to put it in my body. Which is weird, because I ALWAYS wanted in my mind to still drink, even on the topamax. and i did drink. Day 10 AF with the first few days being tough, then one instance Sat. where I was jonesin (ha ha) pretty bad, but other than that, these last days have been flying by blissfully!
Sorry to go on and on, but, well, that's what I do.
    GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps.

Becca - Thanks for your reply. I take most of the suplements, however, I haven't tried the l-glut under the tounge. I was on topomax last year when I tried this program for a few months and just didn't think it was for me. I didn't like the side effects. I am really happy with the MWO kudzu - I was so discourged taking the store brand, since the study from Harvard seemed so promising. Thank you to Roberta for getting the best possible product and matching the ingredients to the actual Harvard study. Well, I will try to keep myself busy today and not beat myself up for having those drinks yesteday. I will definately try the under the toungue thing next time! samadhi

        Dear Samadhi,
I haven't tried Kudzu yet. I'm keeping it as a backup though. Becca and Katesm usually have great advice.
I was intrigued by your name, so have you tried doing what your name means....the meditation bit leading to the absolute awareness of reality? (Not the other stuff).
Like you, maybe some of us struggling too hard, making it even more of an effort? I'm going to try to not beat myself round the head every time I slip up. Been doing that for years and doesn't work. Maybe being a bit kinder to ourselves, and meditating on it not having to be the big struggle we make it out to be. Why give the urges so much power. Can we try to take the power and energy away from the urge to drink or not drink, and use that energy to depower it. Use the energy to stop struggling. That's what I'm going to start to do....work out ways to take the power away from booze. After all, I gave it the power in the first place.
        With metta,
