And to all of you who lost a loved one (thinking of you Techie) my heart goes out to you. I lost the innocence of being an American but so many lost so much more.

And a HUGE THANK YOU to our veterans and service men and women fighting and putting their life on the line to keep us safe. May God watch over all of us and keep us safe and blessed.

In remembrance of the day we lost so many

“Time is passing. Yet, for the United States of America, there will be no forgetting September the 11th. We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief. We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children. “
        - President George W. Bush, November 11, 2001

“Now, we have inscribed a new memory alongside those others. It’s a memory of tragedy and shock, of loss and mourning. But not only of loss and mourning. It’s also a memory of bravery and self-sacrifice, and the love that lays down its life for a friend–even a friend whose name it never knew. “
        - President George W. Bush, December 11, 2001

"It is a day of mourning and remembrance and to quote a famous one : "No just cause can be advanced by terrorism"."

This is still very hard to watch. Alan's mother told me he got up that night and wrote this song out as it is in pencil, and I believe it sums up so much about our feelings.

Thank you, red, for posting this.

My father served 3 tours in Korea; his injuries were with him for the rest of his life, but he was the greatest patriot I've known. My son-in-law's troops served in Serbia and Afghanistan, and now he is a fireman. To them, and our allies across the world (especially Great Britain, Australia, and Canada), thank you for the freedom I enjoy.

On the 11th September 2001, the world had stopped for everyone. A day we will never forget, as we watched in horror as America wept. So much was lost that day as many lives where taken, all we can say to America is the world became one that day. As America stands tall & proud, on this day you wont hear a sound, as the world will stop once again in memory of loved ones who were laid to rest. God bless you America, we shall never forget. To America from Ireland ♥

Thinking and praying for all of those involved - this is an awesome country - I am proud to be a part of it. thank you to all the firefighters and first responders and police officers who risked - and lost - their lives that very sad day. Thank you too to all of our service men and women - you are indeed brave people.

Thanks, RC. I was looking for pics like that when I got waylaid by my day. Again, our canines come to the rescue, and though many don't see it, they suffer sadness over what they have to find. 'If you love me, love my dogs.'

Some say that they don't want to "re-hash" 9/11 each year. In my mind, it's important to us, to our children, grandchildren, and all of the generations to come, to re-connect with what it means to suffer such loss, as human beings and as Americans.

God Bless to those who lost their lives by just going to work and "living the American Dream", all of the fire fighters, police, rescue workers, citizens, and a special 'nod' to those brave souls of Flight 93 who fought back, averting an imminent tragic outcome. My prayers are with their families at this time as well.

Ruby if you go through them you'll see how they had to set up successful rescues(being that there were few)just to keep the dogs spirits up.

And patriotic Americans never will. 9/11 just brought forward our love of this country, and those men and women who keep it, and this continent, safe. Bless the ones who are suffering more than us through this anniversary of atrociousness and honor.

RC, thanks for the link. We seem to forget that our animals feel what we do, and are left in the aftermath too often.

In remembrance of the day we lost so many

I had a friend request this morning from a person I knew a little so I accepted. Then I read a post made by her "Why do we care about 9/11" and apparently she thinks that since it didn't happen in Iowa, that it wasn't anything big. I unfriended her and later in the day put a message telling her what I felt. I told her that I would pray for her to get a heart and that I can't be friends with someone so narrow minded to think that 9/11 is not important because it didn't happen in Iowa. Thing is, 9/11 affected the whole country and I will never forget 9/11/01.

BTW before I blocked her (so I wouldn't forget and accidentally readd her. Fat chance but not taking any chances) she responded to my message with a OK. Oh did I mention that when she wrote the Iowa bit, it was in all caps which made it worse for me.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Gosh...I can't imagine anyone making light of such a tragedy. I don't blame you for rescinding your "friend" request. I still feel so for all of the victims!
