Hello Canucks--just sliding in to wish you all well and say I'm alive. Had a bailiff with phony papers try to tow my car Thursday. No way did I fall for it. Then they came like a thief in the night and were going to try and hook up. Me and Mia scared'em off. It's not over but there's no way they're going to scam it from me. F*cktards.
MRS Tips CONGRATULATIONS! Sounds like a lovely honeymoon. All the best!

It's like going to a small European city. The walled old Quebec is so quaint. It's right on the St. Lawrence River so lots of water views. We're on our honeymoon. I was very touched by all the wedding wishes. We had a great, intimate ceremony at Ottawa City hall then met our kids in a Sushi restaurant in Hull, Quebec (right across the river from Ottawa) and when we got to the cottage our 'drinking' buddies had used the hidden key to access the cottage and had decorated it in rose pedals, heart shaped balloons, ribbons, crepe paper, confetti, fake diamonds, white flowers and feathers, mini champagne bottles filled with bubbles, heart shaped candies, and the piece de resistance was a chilled bottle of ICE WINE and two lovely fancy glasses. NO WONDER I DRINK!!

The good news is we have agreed (as newlyweds) not to make our own wine and to only buy it on the weekends. This is huge. It's not quitting but it's a start.

                      Again, thanks all.
Tipps - delighted that you're having a lovely honeymoon and enjoying Quebec City. I've never been but I've heard it is a beautiful city - as you said - with a European air about it. How sweet that your friends decorated the cottage for you.

Good news on the new wine arrangement. It is huge because it's something you both agreed on and it is a good start.

Again, best wishes for a long and loving life together.

You're in my thoughts and prayers for whatever the reason is. Hope Spring is being kind to you. Talked to my Mom yesterday who lives near your Mom and she said they had temps between 26 and 29C last week. Ontario? This time of year? My sister's crocuses bloomed and then almost immediately died from the heat.

Sunny-bean - I saw on another thread that you've been missing Sophie. It's natural even after almost a year and maybe because the anniversary is coming up that it's on your mind. Try to remember the good times you had with her. I know you've got her picture hanging in that gorgeous barn of yours. She had the best life possible with you and that's what counts.

                        Hey Everyone,

                        Nice thread

I'm currently freezing my buns off in the mountains North of Montreal, in the Laurentians. It's a gorgeous day but dang the wind... and it's 2C at the moment. It's nice though because it's been so hot (t-shirt weather) and I kind of like sweater weather (say that 5 times fast).

I joined MYO on the 19th and it's been a week since I've binged and abused alcohol. I had a glass of wine on Saturday and was SURPRISED that I stopped at one. I think I've finally gotten it under control. I made a prevention plan and I read it daily, I do other stuff too like meditate and exercise.

I'm doing well. I hope everyone else is doing well. I hope nobody is offended that I'm not AF at 100%, I'm just so proud of myself that I can control it now. I guess I need to keep reminding myself why I cannot go back to bingeing right?

So, right now I'm renting, and my lease is up next spring (2013)...guess what??? I'm so effing lucky...I'm going to NOT renew my lease, put all my humble belongings into storage and do a cross-Canada camping trip!!! I already ordered all the tourist brochures from each province...my gosh, I can't wait...my goal is the Yukon. I've been everywhere in the Maritimes, haven't been to NFLD, don't think I'll make it on this trip though. It'll be from here up along Lake Superior in Ontario, through the Prairies, up through northern BC, to the Yukon, NWT, maybe down to Victoria then back towards Qc. This is kind of a "where am I going to settle next" trip. I'm giving myself 5 months. I'll be poor, living out of my car and a tent, but hell, I KNOW I'll be happy.

ADVICE, SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS ARE WELCOME! I have a year to plan! Oh, and if not for quitting the AAbuse, the trip would be a moot point.

I'm grateful for lots, I love my country. The Habs suck, but what can you do?

Well, there was a time when I would have defended the Leafs... but I think that ended around 10 years ago :H So, take your best shot.. don't bother me none! (There's fine English for ya)

Still seasonably cold here today.. dang. I was going to haul Atlas off to lessons this afternoon but they're calling for everything from flurries to ice pellets so I think I'll pass. And I really don't want him sweaty and wet on an open trailer in these temperatures, blanket or no blanket. So, I'll either ride one of my coach's horses or stay put all together.

I did manage to pry some sweet pea seeds into the ground by the barn today, though. Kinda had to; they'd been soaking for over a day. Oh.. and did I tell you guys about my Peony boxes? :H I bought some bare roots a couple of weeks ago and when I looked at the boxes on the weekend, they looked oddly out of shape.. a bit bulging. Opened them up and voila! about 3 inches of growth emerged. So, they've found a home in the ground on the weekend, too

And that's it, that's all from me. Still on a bit of shaky ground but no immediate danger to stray off the AF path. Be well, yaw'll!

I have camped from Ottawa to Vancouver and back and it was a wonderful trip. The camping is wonderful and your part of the country (Northern Ontario) was one of my favourite places in the world. We really enjoyed the prairies although the wind can pick up suddenly (still have giggles remembering hubby wearing only a Tshirt running around the tent at 4:00 a.m. trying to stake the tent corners while the tent flapped in the gale force winds). Jasper, Lake Louise, WOW!! We slept among the elks; when we woke up they were getting up all around us and sauntering off (or was I dreaming). We saw lots of wildlife on the road: bears, foxes, gorgeous male elks, big horned sheep, mountain goats playing on the slopes, etc. Try to stop in to some of the small towns off the main drag. Hubby and I went into some native run-down bars and enjoyed a beer with the locals. Not scary as people are used to strangers along the transcanada. Have a fantastic camping trip. You are so wise to live this dream. xoxo
