Hey RC Happy Birfday!!!! Hey 'member when we was all drinkin'? We could have called it BARFDAY!!!!!!! But seriously folks, I did forget PIE in our provisions.... what was I thinking.

I've begun using The Barefoot Contessa's recipe which is almost all butter and flour. She doesn't shape her's like a regular pie but rolls out just a bottom crust, roughly, then piles on the fruit in the middle, spoons on a flour/sugar topping, and gently folds up the edges and bakes - it is to die for. I use it a lot and vary the fruit filling.

She's one of my fav cooks as she is obviously over weight but she's lovely to look at and she and "Geoffrey" sure look happy tucking into all that fancy grub. Maybe I'll give her a call and she can make some recommendations for what we should be stocking up on for the winter till old "you know who" gets his spot in rehab!!!

I think come April 1st we're going to have to listen in on Ole Man Winter's first rehab session - waddya say????

Can I bitch about DH just for a second? He fancies himself quite the cook - ha, ha. Do any of you remember a newspaper cartoon character that used to have a dust cloud over his head all the time? Well that's DH. No matter what he does, he drops things, spills things, breaks things, bangs his head on things, cuts his finger with the knife, slops things on the stove, and counters, sprinkles salt and pepper and sugar, and spices on his food, on the table and floor too for good measure. He also leaves drawers and cupboards open. When he finishes "cooking" and "cleaning up" I have to get the hose out and "clean up!" This drives me MAD, I tell you, MAD!!!!!! It's my fault I guess because when we got married we'd both been on our own for about 10 years. So he's been used to doing his own "cooking" - Gad how he's alive now is a miracle!!!! His policy is if it's not actually green and fuzzy it's ok to eat. And I let him continue because I "loved" him - what a fool I was....anyway to top it all off, I eat low carb and he eats any carb he can get his little hands on....

So we each prepare our own meals...how sick is that. And he would be very unhappy if I insisted this change. So I go along with this quite well most of the time. Then he makes a particularly bad mess like he just did in the kitchen and I get really steamed. Thank heaven I can come in hear and blow!!!!!!

Ok, I feel better now. And no, this will not make me drink tonight - I would't give him the satisfaction!!!

Too funny... I just came on here to vent, too. Well, not actually vent but to report a vent! (There's way too much ventilation in those 2 sentences).

I'm the type to avoid conflict at all cost. Usually my cost. Not sure if this is still fall out from a long ago abusive relationship, but it's wrong, regardless of cause. Sooooooooooo, I actually stood up today and said what I really think and how I don't like something :wow: And now I feel better. Previously, I'd swallow it until I had swallowed a bottle of wine or more to deal with weeks worth of suppressing stuff. So there. Go put that in yer pipe and smoke it. Except RC.

Ohhhhhh.. speaking of RC... Happy Birthday, daaaahlink!!!

I'm not a gonna kick me heels up but I'm gonna throw some balls I think. Molly's Mom is home and she's making me dinner. Told her I was wine and smoke free since the new year. Said she was going to get healthier too. Then suggested I dress warm and we'd go for a walk after dinner. WAAAAA??? Are you kidding me? I don't get warm in this weather. This sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to me and I ain't signin' up! So we may do wii or actually go to the allies. Pffff, walk....

Hey RC and all (sorry Yaw'll) let's agree right now, anyone who needs a SHOUT OUT friendly, sisterly greeting or major hug, or warmth of any kind just ASK. I should have earlier. I was feeling very pouty and sad and teary eyed and sort of reach-winey-drinky and should have just asked for direct support instead of trying to be "funny."

I'm now at the stage in this not-drinking lark that it's not so cool any more. But I guess I'm ok. Got a scary Dean Koontz book that will scare the desire for a drink right out of me until bed time. Anywayzzzzzz bye til tommarrraaaaa.....

Oh, here's a good one from Winston Churchill. Ole Winnie had a habit of getting into the sauce at social functions. A woman came up to him, and in her most haughty social manner said "Sir, you are drunk." And Winnie shot back, "Madam, you are perfectly correct, however, in the morning I'll be sober, but you unfortunately will still be ugly!" hardee harrrrrrrr!!!!

Well, another day has started here in Soberland. Sun may come out again later, so that's a good start. Off to Mass shortly. The Mr is out walking the poop machine, aka dog. We should all be so regular!

Some sort of football thing is on later so we know where The Mr. will be parked. That and walking back and forth to the BBQ. In this household we BBQ all year long, no matter how high the snow or how low the temp.

As for me I intend to stay nice and high on GABA and keep my nose in a book. I'm going to keep hydrated, and well fed - and sober.

Avatar Change Alert!!

I'm looking at sobriety in a new way now. So my avatar has changed. I'm no longer making lemonade out of lemons - how negative!!

Now I'm strolling through a hillside meadow. Said meadow is strewn with beautiful yellow field lilies - birds are trilling "trill, trill" , butterflies are flitting "flit, flit" , I'm humming an old Broadway tune "hum, hum" - I think it's called "Can't Help Lovin' That Man O Mine" or something like that.

Gotta keep my eyes down though - cow patties, ya know...."squish, squish" "SHIT!" YEAH, YOU SAID IT!!

Gotta go and put my sneakers in the washer.....see what happens when we change things around here?

MWOL your new avatar is lovely, very sunny.
Speaking of which, where's the horsewhisperer today? And RC and all the other regulars which due to advanced alzheimers I can't list right now.

I am determined to organize my desk today (HA!). I have cleaned all the papers onto a folding table (comes in groups of 4, you know what I mean, um snack table?). They are teetering precariously.
I have a garbage can, and a recycling bin and a shredder at hand. I will not leave until some order has been imposed on the chaos. It may be very very late.
So hope everyone has a pleasant day. I have a package of bandaids on for the paper cuts.
