In agriculture and gardening, a cold frame is a transparent-roofed enclosure, built low to the ground, used to protect plants from cold weather. The transparent top admits sunlight and prevents heat escape via convection that would otherwise occur, particularly at night. Essentially, a cold frame functions as a miniature greenhouse to extend the growing season.
Right, right, right.. friends of mine did that and always have a fabulous crop! Awesome! You WILL share pics and stuff, won't you, Wally!?

I'm up to no good.. well, I'm up to no anything, really.. still feeling ugggh and heading under cover(s) momentarily! Night night!!!

That's all well and fine GG but aren't those horses gorgeous? They're all rescues.

Thanks for the google facts. I've thought of filling my hot tub with dirt and growing an all season garden in there. It's like a little sun room. I keep hoping one day I can afford to run the hot tub again though. I want pics too Wally!

            Good morning Canada!!!!
Wally - you inspire me!! I want a cold frame too!! Passionate about gardening and before my alcohol days and nights, I used to start hundreds of flowers under grow lights....I am thinking I will do this again but had better get my butt in gear. I am going to be an urban gardener this year.... removing the sod from my front yard and planting a vegetable garden

gg- love the barn and horses....I just moved back to the city from an acreage this fall....and I really miss my country life and plan to return some day. Fortunately I still have the acreage and will be able to spend lots of time there this summer

RC.... I love your diet!! I am afraid I am replacing alcohol with chocolate!!! Yikes!!! What's with that????

MWO - congratulations on the calendar month and beyond!! Rock on!!

My update.... it is going to be a beautiful day here in flatland... 0 degrees C.... and I will bring my mom (87 y old) over later today to spend the rest of the weekend with me. The sky is blue, the sun is shining and I do not have a fuzzy, remorse filled, hangover brain.... today is day 9 AF.

Wishing you all a fabulous Canadian day!!
            :heartsnflowers:

Goal 1: 7 days AF Done!
Goal 2: 14 days AF Done!
            Goal 3: 21 days AF
            Goal 4: 28 days AF

              Harrow Harrow, Canoodles!

'Tis THE DAY today! Whoohoo! Furry critters will triumphantly head the procession into the barn! Well, in all likelihood it'll be more of a hasty stumble to the feed bucket. We shall see

Betterlife, which flat lands do you inhabit? It's a bit colder here today and grey-ish although the weatherman said it might clear up. Or not. Or snow. Or rain. You know how wishy washy he is.

You know what's really unfair? When bad hair day and bad wrinkle day fall on the same date. Can frighten ya right back into bed! *shudder* Kinda like when I put in some sample contacts the optometrist gave me... they shoulda come with a warning label. "Side effects include instantaneous appearance of wrinkles and skin imperfections. And facial hair."

Anywho... must get going but I'm sure I'll be back later to report on the proceedings at the barn

Have a fabby AF Saturday, yaw'll!

                Good afternoon all Canucks!
                You sound great Betterlife.
Looking forward to hearing about everyone's gardening endeavors--especially veggies. Are we planting saved/heritage/organic seeds?
Off to get my head into more law studies. Inherent laws, not the babble bullshit they've suppressed us with!
                Cheers!

Sunshine GG, don't worry it's temporary. It's caused by too much exposure to light.
Just turn out the lights. See...all gone.

GG! The horses look awesome in the barn! (Love the symmetry in the pic you caught too) Congratulations!

Beautiful BC was especially nice in my area; bright sun that is just going down now. Kept my blinds open and unfortunately it made me notice all the dust. So I cleaned and looks sparkly clean.

I had spanakopita last night for dinner too (RC, mmmm, so good right?) and have quarter of it leftover and some greek salad. I too have also substituted chocolate (or Skittles) (or anything sweet) for my vodka thats okay. Tonight its going to be healthy muffins but with icing! Yay, carbs are okay for now cause the diet will start next week ;-)

Almost 3 weeks AF, had some stress earlier but made it through with lots of help here. Hope everyone having wonderful Saturday nite

Yay, yay, yay, yippee, and a big WHOOHOO! :H

So relieved, so happy! Trouble was really quite stressed but had relaxed somewhat when I left a while ago. Atlas had no issues at all.. and I thought he'd be the one to worry about. Especially, considering what a train wreck he used to be in a stall. Nuttn, nada. Happy as a pig in mud! :H

Oh, this is a GOOD day

Wally, I got the ole iron out and did some damage control. But the lights help, too. You're right.

Imma gonna have to google Spanawhatchamacallit... no clue what that is! Glad you're enjoying it, though, RC and Today :H Oh.. and Today.. if you're looking for dusting projects.. I got JUST the place for ya! MINE!

Ok, lovelies.. been an exciting day and it's past midnight. Time to call it a night

too lazy to retype so cut and paste from another thread.....
It's 12:31 and I'm heading to bed. Nothing to report. Had a busy day. One horticultural district meeting (boooorrrrrringgg). One stop at the habitat for humanity store to pick up two windows for the cold frame (fun wow).
Scored some more flooring that matches the bedroom, so can finish that little bitty bit that didn't get done (that feels really good, because I didn;t think I would ever find a match, yippee)
Also bought some shelving for the hall closet ($6.00) and a gallon of paint. Oh why not!!!
Then spent the rest of the day working on a file. (boooorrrrriinnngggg).
So now it's bed time and I'm not tired. (stoooopppiiiid).

                              See you guys tomorrow.
                              K?
