Hi again Ca-knuckles!!
I've already seen Sunny-bean on the #$%^%#@ thread. Apparently her weather isn't so good today. Seems like the weather has gone mad in Canada this year. At least our weather is more stable here.
:welcome: Skye - I don't believe we've met.
And :wavin: to Tipps as well
Our family did Ontario to Vancouver Island by tent trailer in 1969. And I travelled twice by train from Toronto to Banff and back again a few years later. I had always loved Ontario for the greenery, the lakes and rivers and the distinctive seasons - we actually had four separate seasons then. But I'll tell you, on that trip more than half way across Canada, I fell in love with our great country. The route up and around the Great Lakes and then across Manitoba and into the prairies of Saskatchewan and Alberta. I can still remember my wonder at seeing the lights of a town 50 miles before we got to it because the land was so flat and the road so very straight. Then the majestic Rocky Mountains. I was in awe the whole time we drove through the mountains. At every curve in the road, a new, breathtaking scene unfolded before us. Yoho, Revelstoke and Jasper National Parks, not to mention Banff, a place I was lucky enough to work in for two winters. Then on through the Rockies to Kamloops and the Okanagan Valley and on again to Vancouver where us country bumpkins dipped our toes in the ocean for the first time. Across to beautiful Vancouver Island completed the first part of our trip. I haven't traveled to many places but I have to say that as far as the expanse of the land, the geographical contrasts that are unique to Canada, the amazing richness of the flora and fauna of our country plus the temperament of Canadians themselves, that we are truly lucky to be citizens of one of the most beautiful and rich - in all ways - countries in the world.
P.S. I've not been fortunate enough to visit the eastern provinces but I have no doubt that I would have loved that part of Canada every bit as much as the rest of it. Oh and, Mr. Stirly and I lived in Montreal for 10 months around the time when he first went to Canada and we got married. Quebec is a lovely province indeed, so rich in culture.
