June, I'm 6 hours north west of you Georgian Bay/Lake Huron
Previously, I've found 101 perfectly good reasons to shun AA. Right at the top were the 'alcoholic' term, how much anonymity can one have in a small community, good lord - they have rules and structure - I don't need that, higher power, really?, besides, I'm not THAT bad... etc, etc.
However, things being what they are... I can dress up my little 'drinking problem' in whatever terms I like... it is what it is and clearly, I need more than Online support. So, here I am

I'll be in TO in March (if not sooner)... got tickets to see Matt Andersen at Massey Hall - Yay!

And, no, thankfully, not yet. Believe me, you will know when my world turns white.. I will be whining for 6 months straight. Northern Ontario. Pffftth. What the hell was I thinking!? :H

Hi Sunshine, was thinking about the Canuck thread earlier and here you are. I wish you luck on your journey. It's very hard to keep anonymity in a small town for sure. Last time I was in AA a spiteful girl "outed" me in front of a group of my husband's friends. However, I think that is rare as she had more problems than alcohol.

I'm familiar with your location, when I lived in Toronto we had a 2nd home in Muskoka. it's beautiful country especially Georgian Bay. I had been living in Texas for 4 years so I doubly appreciate the beauty Canada offers.

I just moved back to Canada after being in the U.S. for about 20 years, I'm in Victoria, B.C. and apparently B.C. stands for Bring Cash. My first trip to the grocery store left me faint with the prices and there is 12% sales tax - is it the same in Ontario?

I finally got to sleep some time after 4am. Sigh. Feels like this is going to be a loooong day. Ah well. Going to make my rounds here, then go and feed those poor critters out at the barn (you'd swear, they got fed once a week by the way they come barrelling in when they see me), and then get some work done.

On a completely different note: May I ask a favour of whoever is here and sees this? Could you please vote for this community project? It's a local horse rescue... I know the people well, they do amazing work rehabilitating skeletons and severely abused horses...

It's a married couple who runs the rescue... I actually let the lady work with one of my horses (the one in my avatar) - super nice, competent people.

Went to an all women's AA meeting tonight and loved it. Much smaller, more comfortable. Got another phone number, drove someone home... and took some thoughts home for reflection.
