THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Hi Nancy, The message is basically the same as the Allen Carr book, but I found this book a little more relateable. As far as him being able to write the same message, I personally don't care... I would read 5 more versions of the book, provided the author of the message could get his points across. The Easyway people may disagree completely.
There are some points Vale stresses more than Carr does which I really needed stressed. For example, Vale really explains the point thoroughly that alcohol is the only drug that if you admit you might need to control it you are labeled as a poor alcoholic who can't be in control. No one wants to do that. I know that I sure don't want the stigma. Other than the fear of not being able to cope with stress and to enjoy life without alcohol, this was the most important thing for me.
I realize that I am a big people pleaser and really care what others think of me and would just die of humiliation if anyone though I had a problem with alcohol. That part of the book did a lot for me as far as getting over the stigma of labelling myself an alcoholic.
You're not an alcoholic, you fell for the trap that 80% of the population did. I liken it to the real estate situation... I got caught up in the real estate bubble and way overpaid for my current house. At first I blamed myself and was embarassed that I was duped. Then I realized This was all a clever con as well. Duping 80% of the american population to think the one solid investment is real estate and the real estate never goes down. I can understand it so cearly now
You simply become one of the lucky ones that doesn't need to drink. You are one of the unique and special ones that doesn't need a drink. All of that made me feel more confident in myself and not caring what other people think about my not drinking. Who knows, many of them may be jealous of non drinkers.
I just finished the book today. I am excited and a little anxious I will keep everyone posted.

THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Hi All,
Been gone for a while and drinking quite heavily. I read this book ( Kick the Drink) and it had an extreme effect on me. I had some success here at MWO a few years ago, but relapsed and could not get back with the program. I went to counseling, was told to go to AA, which I did, but it never did anything for me. In fact, as soon as I would leave a meeting I would want to drink...Bad.
I thought I was destined to rehab or being a drunk. Then I read this book and I COULD NOT BELIEVE the impact it has had on me. I quit smoking and drinking on the same day and have not had any cravings! Sure, I've had a couple of drinking thoughts but immediately recognized them as rubbish. I feel better than I have in years. This book really put things into prospective for me about how we have been brainwashed for decades by the alcohol industry and by governments around the world.
Please give the book a read with an open mind.
Hi to all my old friends and to all the new ones too!

THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Chief - so glad you posted about the book - that's absolutely wonderful. I certainly see the similarity to Carr's book, but this one had an enormous impact on me - I saw major differences despite the similar nature of them. Thrilled that it worked for you -- not just for you, but also because it bodes well for the rest of us!

Chief, can you go into some more specifics about what really touched base for you with the book? How long ago since you quit using the book? Did you read the book more than once?
PS. I apologize for the bad grammar and spelling in my last few posts. I start typing really quickly and not proof reading.

I am really glad this book helps people. Great to hear your update Chief!
But he is wrong not to give Alan Carr credit. He should give Alan Carr credit for many of the theories and then add his own explanations elaborations. This omission of credit seems very wrong to me.

getting anything out of it?
Not really. Alan Carr made a big impression on me before and this, for me, doesn't add enough. The section on advertising was interesting. And I think advice about avoiding the Just have one mentality is useful.
There's nothing to lose in reading a book so go for it.
But it might be that I am so offended by what I see as plaigiarism that I found it hard to see it in a positive light.

Looks like this is the answer - he was actually a trainer for Allen Carr.
Jason Vale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I still see loads of differences in the books - Carr's didn't impact me greatly; this one did. Maybe he should have mentioned a connection to Carr. But, if the Carr heirs didn't care, should we? Maybe they thought people wouldn't read it if they thought it was just a replay??
