RC - I think it's after 11pm in your part of the world. Maybe call it quits for tonight?

We've just started a lovely new month and a new undie has joined us so how about we try to keep things positive on this thread?

Sorry if you've had a bad day, we all get them from time to time so how about you put this one to bed and face a brighter one tomorrow?

We're getting some rain !!!! Loads of it.
            I organised it so that:
            A. People could have a rainy Sunday doona day.
            B. Those of us who have been planting like mad can get a nice big water in.

Also I am now investigating making Paneer at home using milk and lemon juice. More on that as info comes to hand.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

              UNDIES IN OCTOBER

Well, I've dropped the wonderfully warm and lovely and funny Raggsy off to the airport and she will be winging her way home in the next half hour. I had such a lovely time!! It is so nice to meet other Undies!! We laughed like drains, we ate extraordinarily well (I'm on a non-calorie diet for the rest of the week!!), and we walked so much that my knee has swollen up and I'm now sitting on the couch with the lappie and an ice-pack!!!

Betty disappeared out the cat door when Rags was leaving and hasn't been see since! I think she probably has a cunning plan to race out to the airport, find Rags' luggage and become an illegal immigrant :H:H

Techie - that in no way resembles either Wonderwoman or Lara Croft :H

Bridge ..... I bought Mr B a cheese making kit for his last birthday. He unwrapped it, said with delight "Oh great, a chemistry set for adults!" and carefully placed it on the floor beside his usual place at the table. His birthday was in MAy and it hasn't moved from that spot since. I wonder if he would notice if I sent it on to you!!! :H:H

But the web site if you are interested is
              www.[B]madmillie.com/

I'm sure Rags will be glad to leave Rugby World Cup fever behind her. I've been cracking up at how ludicrous some of it is ..... the number one news item all day today is that Dan Carter (kicker extraordinaire) is out of the rest of the tournament because of a groin injury. Poor guy ........ imagine spending 10 years of your life training for an event, getting knocked out the week before you head into the quarter finals, and spending the entire rest of your life knowing that the rest of the world knows about a malfunction in your nether regions!!:blushing:

Missy - that's all lovely stuff. So glad you met Raggsy, as well as Mr.G and Reggie. Speaking of Reggie - haven't seen him around for a while unless he just slipped past my notice ***waving to Reggie if you're out there ***

Got some good garden work in but it's overcast and cooling down so ... time to light the fire and stick head in book.

Arvo Undies - been out walking the streets of Brisbane and next time I will take my camera coz it all looks beautiful...

nearly bought the Mad Millie pack myself Missy, they sell them at the local home brew shop....dont ask...

Reggie was in fine form telling jokes in that section Tawny...but has not slipped into underwear for a little while...does this mean commando??? Reggie???

On the great bean transplant - I think I will do it....love a good stir...

Could be as much fun as when I bought George without permission and we just got a new lounge. Mr Happs was unimpressed with George so locust and I bought fake dog poo and stuck it on the lounge...

walked down the stairs the next day and kicked what I thought was a stuffed toy dripping with tomato sauce and Mr Happs was on payback - but it was a bloody humungous rat Garfield had brought in....freaked me out..

                      UNDIES IN OCTOBER

Well it's that time of the week again ... I HAD to buy this property because it was a steal at 7Million. A steal, I tell ya! So to whom should I bequeath this property? I thought long and hard ... who is not scared of living in the city? Who is scared of redbacks and tiger snakes and stone fish? Who has never expressed a desire to own chooks? Who needs a really big, big desk? Who would appreciate the beautiful tapestries adorning some of the walls?

It's oh so easy, when you think about it. So, I'm giving this week's property to:

                      TECHIE!

Please check the 14 photos - if there's something you don't like, let me know and I'll have my people attend to it.

No need to thank me. Pleasure's all mine.

Welcome Lily, glad to have you here.
Walked the pups to the dog park, now they are tuckered and sleeping.
MB, I am glad you had a wonderful time with Ragsy. That is just lovely you two could meet and hang out.

                                UNDIES IN OCTOBER

Thanks for the warm welcome all

A Lillypond? I did see there was another Lilly here (HI!). Perhaps we are colonising the pad...

A warning to you all... my threads elsewhere have tended to get a bit, er, loquacious, as I'm new to - and still really struggling with - this whole sobriety biz. I'll try and start a My Story thread soon if only so I don't overload you all with my angst here...

Rags - Nup, not in WA, just a night owl. Sydneysider - m/any others here?

Bridge, looks like you're the keen cook of the thread. Me too. (Though haven't been doing enough cooking of late.) Look forward to swapping recipe tips. Paneer ... yum.

HappyPlace - I DID make it through my evening booze free! The Sangria whispered to me for a moment there but otherwise it was surprisingly easy. I enjoyed myself as much as ever and didn't feel (too) deprived. I also got that feeling where at points I felt a bit drunk - I think being around drunk people and catching their buzz and maybe also the associations of usually being drunk in that situation. It was fun.

One interesting thing though... I haven't really leveled with any but a couple of my best friends (and even them not entirely) about where I'm really at with the whole trying-to-quit-drinking thing. But with these two girlfriends I was out with last night I've just told them that I've been struggling with a fair bit of depression & anxiety lately (true) and my blood sugar recently tested high and I'm having more tests done as something is array there (true) so I'm not drinking and am already feeling heaps better for it (true-TRUE!-though there's way more to that story). These aren't best friends, but still, good mates, but friends who historically our socialising revolves around boozing.

Anyway... so it's my birthday next weekend and my friend tells me that she has a free suite at a fancy hotel in the city (due to her work) so we could all go there and "have lots of bubbles then go to the [amazing 360-degree-views of the city] hotel bar for lots of cocktails afterwards]". Of course my junkie brain immediately starts whispering "it IS your birthday. Maybe just one night off for your birthday..." ... even though I'd been feeling determined to try and go 30 days AF despite it being my birthday AND a short holiday away with friends coming up too. ('Cause there's never a good time right?)

On the way home I started thinking, 'Hmmm, I've told you I was feeling shit, but now I'm not drinking, and I feel much better, so for my birthday you suggest something entirely alcohol-focused.' Interesting. Same friend also suggested maybe my anxiety "is just because I work from home" (HUH?) and they both suggested maybe I just need to exercise more. (Ironic, as I work out way more when I don't drink.) I can't help wonder if they'd be reacting that way if I were still drinking. No biggie but I'll just file that one away in my head under ... hmmm... Anyone else have weird reactions from friends about their quitting drinking? In contrast my best friend's reaction was so totally awesome it brought tears to my eyes. Guess that's why she's my best friend.

Ok, see what I meant about being long-winded? I'll shut it now. Lovely to 'meet' you all. Hope you're all enjoying your weekends.

                                Lilly
