    UNDIES IN OCTOBER

byebyebridgetjones;1198504 wrote: Sent a text to the Crown
    Had a quick look around
And found the whole place quite bucolic.

    Gave the 'Endeavour' a scrub
    Then set up a pub
And that's why we're all alcoholic.

After Cook, the convicts came here

Learned to farm and how to brew beer

We settled here, we’re called the Undies,

We got smashed on Coke and Bundies

Dunno why we banned the second verse from our national anthem...

It's right up there with "our home is girt by sea"

When gallant Cook from Albion sailed.
    To trace wide oceans o'er.
True British courage bore him on.
Til he landed on our shore
Then here he raised Old England's flag.
    The standard of the brave.
With all her faults we love her still.
    Britannia rules the wave
In joyful strains then let us sing
    Advance Australia Fair.

I need some technical help. A listener emailed Emma Ayres this morning with a link to an 1890 recording of the bugler playing the same bugle he played at the charge of the Light Brigade. Emma said she'd put it up on ABC classic facebook, but I can't find it. Any facebook afficiandos out there?
Thought I'd put it on here as I seem to be on a bit of a history roll at the moment.

            Techie, techie, Techie,
I am one of those who needs very close supervision when near a computer.

Also, I know why no Undies are on here at the moment... they've all been listening to Margaret Throsby interview James Liaw. Which, if any of you missed you can catch up later today or tomorrow by going to abc classic fm.

OK. Met the bloke. Gets some ticks before he even starts -

              1. Phoned first to ask if it was ok to drop around now rather than the appointed time - tick
              2. Shook hands - tick
              3. Good age - guessing somewhere nearing 50, fit-looking wiry little bugger, battered hands - tick
              4. Didn't roll his eyes when I told him what I wanted done - tick
              6. Quoted $25ph for chainsaw work - tick

So - I shall update on Tuesday when he says he'll be here at 9am - unless it's raining.
