Hey, sweet family! I just talked with Grateful and she is feeling better, after getting a little break from work. She had her sonogram today, but won't hear the results for a couple of days. Her Mom and Dad are coming this weekend, so she is getting ready for that. My kids are coming this weekend, too. Paul went to work today (PTL!) and I got so much house cleaning done! I had a really good day nd felt pretty good. I got to listen to my Joyce Meyer tapes all day and I got so much accomplished! I'm cooking supper, so can't reply to everyone but WELCOME HOME SUNNI! I am so glad you had such a wonderful time and I can't wait to see pics! Love you all, Vicki

SO glad for the report from Grate, Vick, and that you had a good day. Both of you have a great weekend with family.
I'm averaging a call a day from people wanting to use the cabin. Family, maybe. Others, show me the money! A place like ours would rent for $300 a day if I put it on the market this time of year. It's sat empty forever, now suddenly I'm beseiged!! Ya'll know you're always welcome there. Several here can testify it's a great place.
It's been another wild and woolly afternoon at my funny farm. Just had a young couple, with their 2-y/o daughter, here for 1/2 hour, signing rental papers. She (little one) left with a gift for her and her older sister, and quickly attached herself to Tay, whose finishing cooking dinner. OH, and as a surprise bonus to my day, Tay brought 2 newborn kittens since their momma cat died giving birth to them, so I've been scrounging around for warm rags and a little bottle to try an keep them alive till tomorrow. She has them in an insulated cooler, and is heating some evap milk to try and feed them. Animal love runs deep with us. Will update, but odds are against them.
Took a nice nap, but the pace is frenetic. I used to spend days alone, with nothing or no one but Hubs to interrupt them, but lately is just crazy. JC has worked wonders in his cleaning up of the lands around our rentals and the new place, and I'm truly enjoying this new closeness with the 2 of them. He hugs me even more than Tay does!!
I shall crash, imminently, but for all the turmoil, it's been a great day. Life with loved ones always is.

I wouldn't give up on those kitties, yet Rubes...when my baby sis and I were teens, she found two starving kittens (eyes not yet open) and brought them home. My mom and I nursed them all through the next few days and nights and they grew into fine, handsome man-cats! We fed them with eye-droppers! Bless you for tending the little critters.

Good Morning everyone - well, back to work for me. Glad Grateful is feeling better than she was - poor you Grate - now we need to hear how everyone else is and hope they are feeling better. Thanks for the welcome home everyone - I missed posting while I was gone! Now I must start getting ready for work. I did do my ironing last night before I crashed!! Just his miserable self! I do believe he loves being this way and feeling like some kind of victim, but thank GOD he can no longer blame me! I will NEVER! NEVER play that role again! Georgie, I think all our husbands came from the same clan. I've told my husband he comes from the most misery loving family on earth. We can be having a wonderful time, and one of them says something to the effect that something terrible is bound to happen soon. I live for the joy, the happiness, the fullfillment that we get in small bits. I've been run ragged for the last few months, but I've never been more fullfilled. Learning to live our lives, and do our best, and give no more than we can is the right road for me. I'm sure most people would be terrified at my life, my schedule. But it works for me, and those times I make a real difference make it great. Like last night, when I went through the paperwork with that young couple, and the 2-yr-old insisted on sitting by me, following me, and said of the little gift I gave her (a purple flower with a fairy on a spring in the middle, holding a tiny plaque that said 'There's No Place Like Home), and another kneeling statuette of an angel for her sister) that they were her favorite things. Of course, they'll be put aside soon, but for that time, she was happy, and so was I. Even grumpy Poppa, who came in after his 14-hour day, got a visit from her when I went in to get his signature, and they ended up smiling and giving hugs. This little family is coming from an apartment where the children can't go outside alone, leave their toys. They will have an acre of safe yard to play in, and, as the baby told me, their OWN bedrooms for the first time. So it was a warm and fuzzy feeling for me, and I even got paid for it. I know she'll forget it soon, but maybe the good will with her parents will stay, and the package of daffodil bulbs I gave them will be a great reminder next spring. That's sort of a signature thing I do with some tenants, so they become invested even more in their new homes.
Grateful, you BETTER be taking care of yourself. I'm watching you, you know. We're getting some freezing weather tomorrow night, so I know you'll be getting some too. Remember when you put on your new flannel gown it's warm hugs from me.
Vicki, I'm still glowing with the gift you gave Kell and me with you trip and visit. It was just too short. If you are determined to look after the bull-headed baby in the recliner, at least tell him that if he continues to drink, and this happens again, he's on his own. He's causing his problems, so let him get up and get whatever he needs, and keep your pills away from him anyway! He's reaping what he sows, like we all do.
Rog, hope you are dealing well with every day. You're too smart to get trapped in that world again, right? We all do what we do for ourselves, basically, but there is fall-out. I practice tough love with my family, but there IS a huge amount of love. And respect. I lost that to my drinking time, and I never want to have that happen again.
Sunny, I still feel your glow from a memory-making visit with your family. What you and your siblings did gave your mum the gift of a lifetime, but a gift to yourselves as well. I know you have pictures, but the pictures you'll carry in your heart are the most lasting.
Fen, would love more pics of Tick Hollow. And of course, I want you to visit down here with me. You and Sunny will have to flip coins over who gets which bedroom, but I can find a place there for 20 people, if need be. And there's always plenty of room outside for tents!!
Where is our Tony? And I SO miss our RC. Biz is obviously in close touch with Grateful, but I miss him here. So many others who haven't checked in recently.
Swannie girl, like I said, when you need a lift, if the pics help, just say the word. Vick took some great ones, but you really can't go wrong up there; it's all so picturesque. Nothing fancy, just lots of quite, warmth and nature.
Bird, I'm sure your girls are getting ready for their holiday breaks, and there will be lots of activity. Wish you were closer; I've got lots of twin and full bedclothes from my aunt, one entire bed-in-a-bag for a full that's never been used.
So, time to get busy. I actually slept till 10 today, my first in weeks! Have to start dinner as Tay and JC are usually here. Can't believe all the work they've done for me this week, things Hubs won't have to work on, given his schedule. Like me, he's not used to having someone else doing things for us.

I did, MB! YES!! That's both of us!! Hubs goes in as a last resort, but everyone agrees they're more afraid of me. :H Even he is! I tell them up front, I can be their best friend or their worst enemy, and i WILL come after them for the money!

OH, and yesterday, after Hubs has tried for 30 years, I fixed the downstairs toilet so it actually flushes completely. He's in charge of multi-million $ equipment, but the one little toilet was beyond him. Go figure.
