It seems like quite a few of us are having problems with the children. Pingu-I had never heard of GBS but I googled it. I agree-the best thing to do is try to see a specialist in a childrens hospital. I am going that way myself-but if it's anything like Paris-there is a long waiting list. I know how frustrating it is.:l My little one is having problems too.
I'm going to try and log on extra early tomorrow morning and write a proper post because the way things are going--full time work day, pick up kids, cook dinner, baths , homework...mum just wants to collapse. :H
I'll try to lurk a few minutes before bedtime. Thinking of you all-and trying to keep up the best I can.

Me too!:l Love this place. I was thinking about you lads while I was about to crack up today. Calmed me down. It was the Johnny Fox's pub that caught my eye -when I "joined" the Army (they have really good food! Wasn't about the booze, lol!) I loved hearing Oney, Mario, KTAB....talking about places I know in Ireland. Made me feel safe and cosy.
Shite! I'm gonna burn the dinner! Vroomm!!!

GBS is a horrible illness which strips the coatings off the nerve endings starting at the feet and working up the body, in its worst case it can kill you. In our case she lost all feeling from about the waist down. The treatment is a plasma infusion, and recovery takes weeks, months, years or sometimes never. She took 5 months to get back on her feet again, and had to relearn all her gross motor skills, and in pain too. Sometimes I feel it's unsurprising how manic she is now......

OOOOOHHHHH I got a new PM.. I'm so excited!!!!

            Hi again Army brats...

Pingu, I am so sorry about your daughter's problems. I've no advice to give you as I know nothing about the condition but it must be so very painful to watch her suffer from that. I hope you can get some answers soon and treatment to reverse the situation ASAP. Poor wee thing. :huggy

Mollers - hope you get a chance to talk to the sprogs and get them sorted out soon. There's always something, isn't there. Never a quiet moment.

Reccie - thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts on the Greek economy. If we revert to the drachma, I can only imagine what the economy of the country will be like then. As for what the government should have done a few years ago - the conservative party was in power and for some reason, unknown to us, the Prime Minister had little control over his Ministers and basically they did what they bloody well wanted to. There were various scandals involving confiscating funds, mistresses in high-paying positions, judges who were getting paid to find politicians not guilty for funds "donated" to political campaigns and rumors about scams involving the PM's wife. They were mostly shushed. The then Minister of Finance especially was a total wanker and got us in big trouble with the European Union monetary head honchos then and there were huge fines levered. Our current PM is doing what they tell him in hopes of getting enough money to bail us out, but as you said, if it happens, it will only help for a few months. Anyway, enough of that - it's given me a headache, just writing this much.

Zennie - that is fab news. Finally some really good news that we can celebrate about....:dancin::yougo:

Hi Corinne--my ex has been living with CDIP for the past 14 years..It took a while to diagnose. Everything from tumours, to ms and gbs were considered. Initially I got him to a holistic md practicing in the boonies here (for fear of harassment by the medical community). My ex drastically changed his diet and took supplements and one medication to eradicate candida from the body. He went through hell detoxifying but did make it through and start gaining. However, he fell off the diet after a short time and quickly regressed and went the medical route of having the IVIG therapy routinely to maintain. His first neurologist wanted to put him on a low dose chemo pill--that's when I convinced my ex to go the natural route. That neurologist called the candida connection a bunch of bull crap. I hope you find the best possible solution for your daughter. My ex lives a "normal"(he's an arse in every other aspect!) life except for the 2-3 hour treatments every two weeks. I guess I tell you this because it was difficult to get answers and you may not want to settle for just one or even two opinions.

                    Hello Army

I always feel like I'm treading on established toes when I try and join a thread but I really want to contribute to something for the days I feel like shit and want a drink, also this seems like a nice friendly thread where people don't jump on each other and give fellow members a hard time?I think most members feel a little like that when they first join a thread. I joined MWO on Dec. 2nd and made my first post on the 8th. On the 10th I got a welcome PM from Jackie and one from Mario on the 18th - both of which I still have in my Inbox. I dropped by the barracks not long after the PM from Jackie and I'm still here almost two years later. I feel like I found people here who really understand me and who truly care for and are totally supportive of the other members who post here regularly, but also supportive of members who never post here. And the thing is that we have people drop by - some more often, some once in a while, who aren't regular posters here and there is always a big welcome for them. And as for the sense of humour - well they're all loons, so I fit in quite well...:H I know we banter back and forth a lot among ourselves, but if you've got a problem and we can help due to a similar experience, or help just by listening, the support is here. You can feel it, you can almost touch it. I hope you feel comfortable here, Pingu and you shouldn't ever feel like you're treading on established toes. We're all on the same journey here, just at different stages. And when you're having a shite day and AL is whispering in your ear, calling your name, or tugging at you to keep him company, this is the place to come to. We are here for you and every other member at MWO whenever they're struggling and in need of support.
Again, I hope you get treatment soon for your dear daughter and that the symptoms recede quickly. No child should suffer and no parent should have to watch their child in pain. Virtual hugs to you.

My guess is that you have never snuck in quietly to anything but a classroom when you were late for school but that general you just barged your way in anywhere you went, making yourself heard by all. And I mean that in the very best way. I just can't imagine you being a quiet little fly on the wall somewhere or a wall-flower. More like you missed the door and bashed down part of the wall making your entrance....:H:H Again, said with l:h

I keep checking the post JC.:H
It's funny (not haha) RC, but I was wondering what role nutrition plays in a lot of conditions. I know this has nothing to do with your Ex's condition or with that of Pingu's daughter but I do remember when my older son was young that once in a while he used to go completely bonkers - bouncing off the walls so to speak - when normally he was not an over-active child. Just a normal kid. Then I read an article in a magazine about artificial grape flavouring used in pop back then causing kids to suddenly be over-active and I realized that he went wild whenever I "treated" him to that artificial flavouring and all the other crap that is in canned drinks. Again, nothing to do with the above conditions but as I said, I always wonder what would happen if, when a patient was diagnosed with a certain condition - AHDH for expample - if there would be some relief from the symptoms if proper nutrition and supplements were introduced before they started handing out medication. Just my own opinion of course but it makes sense to me that there could be some improvement if, as you say, they followed the "natural route" and got rid of all processed foods, etc., etc.

                                P.S. Good to see you...
