Stirly--my daughter would have been labeled ADD if I had gone that route. I remember when she was about 14 months, having hot dogs (rarely) and put two and two together that she was "bouncing off the walls" from meats with nitrates. Had a teacher come into the store years after she taught my daughter with her own child in tow. She expressed how sorry she was for all the times she recommended Ritalin to children's parents once she learned how to avoid that route with her own child by taking all artificial ingredients out of their diet. There is a huge connection but it is not easy especially if prepared foods have become the norm in a family.Psalms 119:45

stirly-girly;1187083 wrote: It's funny (not haha) RC, but I was wondering what role nutrition plays in a lot of conditions. I know this has nothing to do with your Ex's condition or with that of Pingu's daughter but I do remember when my older son was young that once in a while he used to go completely bonkers - bouncing off the walls so to speak - when normally he was not an over-active child. Just a normal kid. Then I read an article in a magazine about artificial grape flavouring used in pop back then causing kids to suddenly be over-active and I realized that he went wild whenever I "treated" him to that artificial flavouring and all the other crap that is in canned drinks. Again, nothing to do with the above conditions but as I said, I always wonder what would happen if, when a patient was diagnosed with a certain condition - AHDH for expample - if there would be some relief from the symptoms if proper nutrition and supplements were introduced before they started handing out medication. Just my own opinion of course but it makes sense to me that there could be some improvement if, as you say, they followed the "natural route" and got rid of all processed foods, etc., etc.
P.S. Good to see you...

Initially I got him to a holistic md practicing in the boonies here (for fear of harassment by the medical community). My ex drastically changed his diet and took supplements and one medication to eradicate candida from the body. He went through hell detoxifying but did make it through and start gaining. However, he fell off the diet after a short time and quickly regressed and went the medical route of having the IVIG therapy routinely to maintain. His first neurologist wanted to put him on a low dose chemo pill--that's when I convinced my ex to go the natural route. That neurologist called the candida connection a bunch of bull crap. I hope you find the best possible solution for your daughter. My ex lives a "normal"(he's an arse in every other aspect!) life except for the 2-3 hour treatments every two weeks. I guess I tell you this because it was difficult to get answers and you may not want to settle for just one or even two opinions.
Hello Army
I keep checking the post JC.:H
Anyway I have been teaching which always chills me out, and located my son who decided to go to a friend's house after school without letting me know. Hs's 11 with a mental age of about 8 so I was not best pleased.

And exercise.I have to admit that when my kids got a bit older, we had crisps and orange pop every Saturday night watching country music shows on TV. And we've eaten our share of McDonalds and pizzas, etc. etc. I did get them started right by making all of their baby food but then work got in the way and we messed up a bit as far as good nutrition goes. Not a lot but once a week for sure. If I had it to do over again, I would have been more careful. When I see kids in strollers scoffing down cheesies and chocolate filled cookies and such, it makes me cringe. What happened to giving your kid a banana or a box of raisins if they want something sweet? I've seem Mothers and Grandmothers that have taken wee ones to the bakery to get fresh bread for the day and they leave with a bag full of crisps and cheesies and crap three times bigger than the bloody loaf of bread they bought. Okay, wee rant over.
