Some times I do go off on one don't I. Hmm I reckon I am going to be one of those grumpy old sods who walks down the street grumbling to himself at the state of everything and anything. But I hope not.

I think a good clean out can be fun, especially when you see all the clutter you have thrown away..... off to start in a bit

Good Morning Patty, Mrs. A, Pingu, Mollers, Tipperoonie, Mario-Man, the Homeless Guy with the dog and to all who drop by later. And wishing sweet dreams for Cindi and Zennie-butt.

Another cold, windy day here in Stirly-world. WTH? On Sunday we were standing in the shade because the sun was so hot and last night and again today, I had to wear a winter jacket to walk the dog. A mere 14C at the moment although it's supposed to go up to 20 by this afternoon. Oh well, not really complaining. Just commenting....

KTAB - you're spot on about the protests and the strikes and such. Nothing will come of them except more financial drain on the economy. I'm sick to death of them even tho' I understand why the people are up in arms. Having your pension slashed from 2000 euro a month to 1200 as has happened with my brother-in-law, is no laughing matter. They don't own their own house and pay 950 euro a month for rent, excluding utilities. So that 800 euro a month less that he'll be getting is a huge deal for them. Luckily, his wife gets a pension also but they will have to cut back a lot on their spending. I'm no expert and don't pay all that much attention to the financial reports and stuff because I don't understand a lot of it. I have managed to fathom a few tidbits of info that stood out in all their mumble-jumble. Essentially, as you said, the consumers over-extending themselves financially is what started this whole mess, from what I understand. However, the banks are the ones who caused this whole financial disaster by giving loans to those over-spending consumers for this, that and the other. There were ads on TV some years ago (they've stopped them for about the last 6 years) that were offering loans for your Easter holidays, then for summer holidays, then for back-to-school expenses, then the Christmas holidays. Basically what people did was get a new loan every few months before they'd even started to pay off the older one. Add those to the financial burden they already had with house and car loans and it doesn't take many brains to figure out where they're going to end up. So the banks and lending institutions ended up repossessing cars and houses and in the end, had all these vehicles and properties that they couldn't sell and so they collapsed. At least that is my read on the whole situation. K - if I remember well, you mentioned some time ago about when you were building your house that the bank was only too glad to hand over lots and lots of money. The problem, IMHO, is that they were giving money to people (and I don't mean you personally, here) without doing a detailed financial check on them to see if they would really be able to pay back the loans. Then of course, people are given the loans and start over-spending and it's all downhill from there. Anyway, enough of that for now. It's just that, like you and Patty said, the strikes and protests aren't helping since we're so deep in financial doo-doo that nothing will get us out. Of course I could be all wrong here and if I am, then please just ignore me...

My original plan here was to drop by and wish you all a pleasant day so here it is....hope you all have a
