    Army Thread 15th October

Good morning army and welcome to the weekend!

A sober Reccy reporting for duty. Yesterday was another "lost day" and absolutely the only thing I can remember is reading about zenny's difficulties. Zen, I hope you're sleeping it off by now, but feel free to pm me any time you want.

Over the past few months I've put on a little weight. Only a few lbs, but enough to bother me. I cut back on food, but still couldn't shift the weight. So today I checked on the whisky bottle to find out how many calories were in a drink. Turns out that I'm getting 60% of my daily energy requirements from the whisky. I really had no idea. Anyway, it's one more reason to quit.

Just been for a 50 minute walk in my hiking boots. They were last used in anger round about 1996 so I thought it was time to start getting used to them again. It's a clear night so it was blooming cold and my ears and cheeks were stinging.

Hope everyone has a fantastic sober day.

        I am awake
        Morning Recciebear and RC!

Are you seriously going to get into walking Reccie? I can honestly say that walking is a huge part of my wellbeing kit. Every time I go out (which is twice a day every day) I always feel a lift in my mood. I reckon its the best exercise going.

I have had a bit of an awakening over the last few weeks, I am seriously thinking of starting my own little business in EFT (emotional freedom technique) and NLP (neuro linguisting programming) I have used both these techniques on myself for a number of emotional problems and I KNOW they work. I just have to get my practitioners certificate and I can start. I am hoping to get one this year and the other early next. Never thought of doing anything like this before and it feels very exciting.

          Morning Reccie, RC and Starty
Reccie-I agree-walking is a great exercise, it relaxs you, and you really get to appreciate your neighborhood and area. You discover so many more things. Have you ever thought about getting a dog? They are great walking companions. Just an idea.
Starts-what a great idea to start up a business that you know about, believe in...sounds wonderful!:l

            Hiya starty :l

when I went to see my alcohol worker this week, I rather rashly committed myself to trying to climb Kilimanjaro within a year. I'm horribly unfit and the walk was the beginning of my attempt to get back into shape.

I think starting your own business is a great idea! It's good to work with things you believe in. How long are the courses? Would you visit clients or have them come to you?

              Morning Expatty!
And it wont take much outlay, well except the training of course. But Id want to do that even without the business idea.
              How are you doing?

The courses are about a week, but very intensive. But I have already done both introductions, so thats a start.

Climbing kilimanjaro is a bloody excellent goal! Everyone needs something to aim for and a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Do it Recciebear!

I would visit clients to start. This would be a part time venture, I am still looking for a full time job as well

Hi expatty Believe it or not, I have considered the possibility of getting a dog. It's the vet bills that worry me though.

What about walking dogs for an animal charity Reccie? I used to do that, and it was so rewarding.

I'm feeling pretty positive this morning. My boss gave me a small pay rise! And I didn't even ask for it! It's not going to really change my financial situation but it is nice that they noticed I've been working my arse off!
And the weather looks lovely for the weekend-blue skies and a high of about 17C or so. Good walking weather.

That's an interesting idea, starty. I might have a google and find out what's available near me.

Excellent Expattie! Every little bit helps and knowing that your boss appreciates you s priceless.

Good idea Reccie, its another way to keep focussed off the booze. Plus animals never judge us, always listen and always make us feel better despite their own problems

That is something to think about. A dog is a huge responsibility. So many people buy dogs thinking they are like soft toys and then feel overwhelmed and actually dump them on the road. Happens a lot before the summer holidays here.:upset:
I am not saying you would do that Reccie! Just saying. But I think finding a breed (the mixed breed/mutt) is usually a pretty hardy animal and does not need too many vet visits. Even pug dog-who is a rescue pug (didn't meet the perfect breed standards)-has rarely had to go to the vet. But the idea of walking a dog for charity is a great idea too!
I love cats but I admit there are days where I would have just locked myself in the house if I hadn't had to get out and walk pug dog. And I always feel better after. Plus, he's really cuddly and sweet. I :h him.
