Heck, I'll tell ya anyways :H

Not sure, if or how much I had mentioned this week...

My daughter thinks she's pregnant again. Different b/f (a stump, if you ask me). So... she's 20, has one son already (peanut), no education (quit college while preggo), no job, on welfare, up to her ear in student load debt, hasn't got a pot to piss in... you get the picture. THEN, 2 days ago her FB status said 'engaged'.

This all had me a bit in the dumps. I avoided calling here 'cause frankly I was afraid I was going to say something very unkind or something I may regret. However, today, there was a message from her... to call her and she needed to talk. Oh boy. Alright , so I armed myself with a cup of tea and here's the gist of our conversation:

1. She doesn't know what she's doing
2. She's NOT engaged... the sandwich artist changed his FB status and talked her into changing hers
3. She's certain that she doesn't want to be with the sandwich artist long term
4. She really doesn't want this baby, is not ready, feels like she's trapping herself

I'm utterly delighted that there's a glimmer of hope that my girl hasn't lost her mind completely. She even acknowledged that there is a rather large gap of intelligence/ambition between the two of them - PHEW! She DID notice!

I don't want to get into any pro-life controversy here, but I think she will look into a family planning/counseling facility to see what her options are. All in all, I'm a bit relieved. No, a lot relieved, actually.

And yeah.. I never much thought of it.. I never talked to my mother about 'important' stuff, either. Never felt I could. So, that's something to be grateful for

Alrighty, you go do something vaguely important and I'll join Mr. Wonderful for a nap. After that, it's back to the barn.

Back again. Went out for a longish walk in the dark, this time with a fully charged torch. Sitting down now with a mug of coffee (neither hot chocolate nor buttered toast are allowed here) while I make up my shopping list for Sainsbury's tonight.

You and your daughter have obviously got a lot of thinking and talking to do sunny, but I agree with JC that it's brilliant that your daughter CAN talk to you. It took 48 years before I could talk to my mom.
