    Three weeks yesterday

    I had oral surgery yesterday-tooth extraction
    bone graft and implant. So obviously I have
    codeine for pain.
    No smokes or drinks for 22 days and don't miss
    them.
    Just mentioning the pain meds because I wanted
    to get opinions. I do not believe that my sobriety
    is threatened by taking the codeine. There is pain
    and it takes the edge off and I'm taking it when I
    need to.
    I've been around various forums for a long time
    and I know there are those who think "alcoholics"
    should not even be prescribed meds.

    Congratulations on 3 weeks Ann!

    I doubt you have anything to worry about with the codeine. And you shouldn't be needing it for long. I can only see a potential issue if you had a previous addiction/problem with codeine and other pain killer's. If you were taking alcohol to relieve the pain, then that would be an entirely different matter! lol. That would 'open the door' again, and we can't have that.

      Hi Ann, I thinkthe reason docs don't like narcos is that they reduce pain but alter moods and lower your resistance to other substances.
