    Undies in November

    Morning Punters,

Well, it's a brilliant morning and the start of a new week so let's see what we can pull out of our collective funny bag.

So ... I need to know why the male wardrobes in the HP household had to be fumigated. Were there dead bananas in jacket pockets?

          Morning Undies!

I am just out of my sick bed. I am paying the price for not being attentive last week when I was feeling a bit stressed and tired all the time. Friday I woke with a sore throat, but we pressed on to our weekend away .... by the time we got there I had a temperature which I soothed with lots of panadol. Saturday morning I realised I had tonsillitis or a strep throat (I'm not quite sure how to tell the difference!!) ........ and the only answer to that when you're away for a weekend that you planned 6 months ago is to take lots of (pharmacy-only!) drugs to mask the symptoms. Result: tonsillitis got a lot worse and at 2am this morning I was a real sooky la-la.

Anyway, Mrs Google tells me that the best cure for tonsillitis is fresh apple and carrot and beetroot juice, and luckily we came back from the Hawkes Bay with masses of fresh produce, so I will dose myself up and sleep in between.

Concert was great!!! Best song of the night was "Gimme Some Lovin'" ....... I closed my eyes and danced like a hippie and pretended I was 20 again and listening to the Spencer Davis Group :H. Mind you, the phrase "So glad we made it" resonates with a different meaning when you are listening to it at age 50+ than when you are listening to it at age 20 :H:H

Steely Dan were great too ..... although I would love to listen to them in a smaller venue (preferably in NY!) to better appreciate their musicianship.

The concert was held at a vineyard, and there were a few pretty drunk people there. Like others have observed it is interesting to watch people when I'm not drinking and cringe a bit at how I thought I was holding things together for external appearances when I was drunk, but probably (definitely) wasn't. There were two women in particular that were sitting around where we were who were behaving in ways that I could recognise from my past. One of them managed to completely capsize on top of Mr B (we were sitting in our fold-up camping chairs at the time) having lost her balance while she was dancing. I remember doing that at a friend's wedding and it all came back to me in an instant uch::blush:

Now the best news of the weekend Undies - remember that SPCA cat that we took back on Friday that I wept over?? She went in for her pre-adoption health check, and was then taken up to the cat run. She had just got there and had not even been taken out of her carry cage when she was instantly adopted. One of the vets rang me and told me the story ..... the woman that adopted her has apparently recently moved to Wellington to be near her grand-kids, is a very sprightly recent retiree, and has been in at the SPCA several times to find "just the right cat". Apparently she heard our foster cat meow, they eye-balled each other for a minute or two, she took her out of her cage and they had a big cuddle, and it was all over red rover!! It made me feel very happy!

            .
Last time Mr B's boy was here, I suggested to Mr B that they might like to clean out his wardrobe so that we could take the stuff he has grown out of to Vinnies. The next day, boy (now aged 13) came down to breakfast in the flannelette commando PJs that he wore all the time when he was 8 :H:H. They still fitted him in the hips, but they looked like long shorts (he is a tall and skinny). He insisted that he wants to keep them for when he is grown up so we have them in a pile with some other things that he is very attached to.

              Mornign Undies

Hope you all had a great weekend. Got a huge puffy eye (think I got a mozzy bite during the night) so can barely see/read.

Spent the weekend doing back-breaking, monotonous work in the garden and am stuffed. Really need to get a bath in this house.
Change of plans for Christmas - partner's mum's not sounding too well, so going south now (though she's been complaining of a different ailment every week for the last 20 years and docs can't find a thing wrong with her).

                Morning all

Missy......don't you just hate getting sick on a trip away.....hope you feel better soon.

Clearing out clothes is my most hateful job. I hate how my kids manage to accumulate so much in such a short period of time........I really hate when other people buy them clothes.........kids clothes are too bloody cheap in Ireland....

We counted last weekend and she received 28 pairs of White Leggings in the last 2 years......bad grandmother.

Hubby is home tomorrow.....I hope he likes the sober me.......and I really hope that I not cranky sulking shrew who can't stop thinking about AL.

                  Morning chickadees.
I feel bloody remarkable this AM.
Up at crack of sparrows fart, house cleaned top to bottom, multiple loads of washing, bit of gardening. I feel like a certain Victorian frog.
Well, I've slept on it, and I do believe that preserves are the way forward for us Undies.
I also intend to continue with my mission to try at least one new food each week. Actually might try to source some verjuice this week.

Missy, I love hearing about your adventures. It's like vicariously going on holidays that I can't afford.

Goyles I hear ya on the teenage room clutter. I've been putting it off for months. Still have washing baskets full of McDonalds toys FFS. The boy also has a favourite comando outfit Missy. Legs and arms sticking out everywhere, and top looking like amuscle shirt.....rather like something out of gay mardi gras actually.

My but I am chatty this AM.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

I had to toss a winter jacket that came up from Sydney ten years ago on the back of the oldest one. Youngest was still trying to squeeze into it....I'm talking thermal padded stuff - in QLD?? FFS...the little one insists on squeezing himself into stuff that is way too small and the combo of hair sticking up and skinny little arms and legs is not good...

Plus - one last whinge as my meeting is delayed - what is it with the bloody socks???? Have 18 unmatched ones of varying types and sizes...

At one point I could not find one single
sock with it's soulmate....and had to go out and buy one of those Woollies multipacks at ridiculous O'clock on Sunday night

matching socks are out. Mr B is going through a phase of buying ones at Kmart that have different colours at the toe so you can work out which ones are matching pairs. He went out looking like a bumble bee this morning with yellow and black stripes.

I mostly wear jandals, but if I wear socks they are either plain white or plain black (apart from the very cool ones that Rags brought me, which I keep in a special place and for special occasions!). I am thinking about having the equivalent of a sock re-cycling/adoption at the front door for all those socks that have lost their partners. It is so wasteful to throw away the odd ones, and we end up with so many of them!!

Oh, dog, the neighbours are arguing. They are Greek and in their 70s. They argue at high volume and both at the same time :H I never know what it is about, but as usual he has gone out in the car having slammed the door and revved up the drive way at high speed. When he comes back she will have cakes ready for him.
