We're going to make salmon gravlax today. Going to Use Bombay Sapphire as the curing/denature agent, with salt, sugar dill and juniper berries. Should be interesting flavours. Got to go clean a couple of bricks for weights.

I've made the gravlax and it works even without the gin. Heaps of dill is good.

Going for a HIKE today Undies! To make up for the sins of last night....gorgeous Barkers Creek pork and salad - no so bad - washed down with sparkling grape juice (?) Sarah Lee Hazelnut Fudge ice-cream - this is good btw and white chocolate. And stayed up late watching crappy movies...feel less than awake today. and yes Rags, love the Bonds ads, they played them successively throughout the crappy movies last night and the little locust and me were singing on every break...what the hell is in the grape juice I'd like to know?

Morning all
We managed to get through the night with no nose bleeds.......poor thing was so anaemic yesterday. Couldn't even tempt him with ice-cream.
Husband is home in a few daysI really need a break from my brood.
My father seems to be handling his situation quite well........so far. Just worried about losing his job.
Mr Rags must be amazing to produce that dinner..........tell me he caught the salmon too so I can imagine him as Mr Amazing. My husband lost the ability to cook around 12 years ago, the same time he met me.
Happy - I love hiking, my favourite activity, but the youngest is too small. He doesn't even like his buggy being pushed over uneven ground. Enjoy yourself.
Missy, I feel your election pain. You know what is bad too, when your party gets in and you have to watch them make bad decision after bad decision over and over again.
Enjoy your Sunday

Made it before with heaps of dill.
Yummo.
Salmon was selling for $18 a kiloat the market so we jumped in and bought it.
I can still remember the taste of wild scottish salmon that we had a zillion years ago, and the poached poached salmon I had in Ireland even longer ago. (Nup, it's not a typo....)
But if you want a piece of scotch fillet, it'll cost you an outrageous $23.00 a kilo at Woolies.

GRAVLAX
For this we used 1T Bombay Saphire, 1/3 cup each dill, salt and sugar, 1t peppercorns, ? t juniper berries.
Tomorrow when we drain we’ll remove at least half the salt mixture ( I don’t like salt and we are both fairly intolerant of it), and replace with a bit more sugar and about another T of Bombay Sapphire (to which I am not intolerant but have to be extremely careful !)
It is presently quietly chilling out in the fridge between two Austral pavers.
