    Undies in November

Well, I have to admit that I am secretly looking forward to Xmas, even though it is 14 people and all at my place :H:H

Xmas for the last couple of years has usually been me, Mr B and Mum. Mr B and I have a nice litle ritual in the morning involving brioche (cooked by me) and creamed mushrooms and chicken livers (cooked by him) accompanied by our special Xmas music tape which is somewhat eclectic (to put it mildly!!). After that we have lunch with Mum, a skype with my siblings around the world and then it's lying in the sun for the arvo.

This year two of my siblings are coming, along with my godson and his wife and two kids, his wife's brother and sister in law and parents; and another niece and her wee boy. I've decided that the easiest thing to do is to turn my house over to them, and Mr B and I are going to stay at a friends down the road on Xmas Eve, and then sail away into the sunset on Xmas Day at 6pm, leaving them to it!! Everyone has their bits and pieces to bring or things to do allocated - including my brother arriving from Singapore, who has ordered barbecue meat over the internet and it will be delivered on Xmas Eve. Easy peasy!! All I need to do is decorate the Xmas tree
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Tawny - I got to say it felt very long this time that he was away........sometimes it just goes like that.

Christmas sounds lovely Missy.....love the idea about sailing away at 6pm. We celebrate with other families away from home.....last year it was my house........this year elsewhere so I don't seem to have to do much.

I put the christmas tree up on Saturday in an attempt to cheer up sick kids. It is out of the way so I am not tripping over it everyday. It never feels like christmas to me, I am used to cold wet miserable Irish weather. But this is the only christmas that my kids know........so it is important for me to embrace it. We always have the full christmas dinner too, we love turkey so we eat it for Easter and Christmas in July too.

And we finish the day at the beach.....we means as the driver I have the perfect incentive not to drink and be sober for all those phonecalls home to Ireland.....needless to say one year I didn't stay sober and that will never happen again.

I'll assume that you're all into mischeif and put myself to bed
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning Happy - was up at 4:30 am to finish a report. It has been duly sent off and I rewarded myself with a leisurely walk into work on a beautiful and sunny morning (and with no wind for a change!!).

Ella - enjoy your Xmas tree!! I'm looking forward to getting ours - just need o get a few work deadlines out of the way and clean up the house to make room for it!!

Bridge - I am going to have a few garden questions for you soon, but need to do a bit of research first!!

                  Arvo Undies,

Cranky-making windy here today. Missy - don't know how you can live in Wellington. I can't stand my hair slapping into my eyes. Even the cats are weird. On a brighter note, my brother is fly fishing at Lake Taupo and I'm officially jealous that he got to NZ before I did. Bastard!

Dead-headed a lot of roses this morning, ready for a good fertilise in preparation for the autumn flush.

I'm trying to remember whether we all went a bit quiet at about this time last year? I think there was a general feeling of being a bit tired and wanting the year to wind down. At least that's how I feel at the mo.

So ... who's got a good joke then?

I think that you are right Tawny - everybody at work is cranky and working really hard to get stuff finished before Xmas.

No jokes, but I do have a consumer query - do any of you have any experience with Jumbuck's or Matador barbecues (both are Bunnings' "own brand").

Missy - no experience with either but just had a chat with old Mrs. Google and both brands look good. I like the 4-burner hooded.

I wonder how many people now think that "Undie" is a normal and totally acceptable word to describe Antipodeans?

We are trying to decide on whether to get a three or four burner - think that four might be too big for just the two of us and unless it has fold down side (neither of these ones do) will take up too much room on our deck.

In real life, they both look a bit flimsy, but they are a really good price ....... the "Aussie BBQ forum" which I just discovered ( :H:H ) said that they dont last much more then 2 seasons.

BTW - the wind drives me crazy as welll, but some winds are better than others!! I quite like walking on the beach in a blustery southerly .

We bought a small Jumbuck and it takes forever for stuff to cook.
