Rubes, my sister never baby-sat like I did. I remember waking up one morning to terrible crying and screaming. I went into the living room and my sister was crying on one end of the couch, her baby screaming on the other end. The poor little thing had a cold...I picked her up, changed her, fed her, performed an unseemly task on her nose with the "booger" bulb, and she quieted down. That baby thought I was her mom for the first two years of her life. I was barely an adult. And if I was "barely" an adult, you can imagine where my sister was at in terms of maturity. Never having been responsible for a child in any way.

My sister eventually married a half-way (yes, only half) decent guy and they went on to have two kids together. My niece now has three kids of her own, whom I adore.

Hallo all - just got in from work. Am doing a clopen - sort of - not supposed to be going in til later but am going in early and working til later so won't be around tomorrow. ROTFLMBO at calling the pup Jan or Ruby. I shall give her TWO middle names - Jan and Ruby !!!

Vicki - so good to see you here - I agree with the others - YOU MUST take care of you. Your health is SO important. Perhaps now you will start taking care of yourself? we have all nagged you silly about it - NOW do you believe us??? We all love you my dear and want you around for a long time to come. Please - just take all the time you need - get yourself well - make sure that Paul comes second - YOU come first. Get yourself well. Just pop in here now and again okay - but look after you - please!!!!

Ruby - To Kill A Mockingbird makes me too sad. A brilliant book and movie but I hate the whole thing. Yes, Gregory Peck was awesome in it. That was scary for your friend with the skunks! We don't have Rabies in UK so this is a whole new ball game for me here!

Today is Clay's last football game and Grant is driving to South Florida to see his girlfriend at college. I am not happy about this roadtrip, but he is 19 and has his own car and gas.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the signing of the Armistice on the 11th Nov 1918 (poppy day)

Hey Swan, the Vets here stand outside walmart and give you a paper poppy for your donation. My Dad was killed in Nam in 1970.......Rubes, I read to kill a mocking bird many years ago and forgot what it was about. I think one of the kids had to read it for school.....Vick, that was something ,what you have been through. Glad you are recovering......well my oldest kid got off the phone last night and cry cry cry. Told me to go away, didnt want to talk. Still crying this morn and wouldnt go out to the bus, ended up driving her to school and she finally talks to me, sez all her friends are sad and the hustle and bustle of everyday life getting to her, not much down time these days, not much time to socialize plus recent bf breakup. Well, think she feels better now just talking away all the way to school. Glad Tday break is coming up for her....hey if you are on my facebook watch the vid I put with the 3 year old jamming with us after the show, he is so cute...off for now, my last vacation day...b

Poor Sun. Do you ever meet yourself in the road, dear?
Bird, teen angst is horrible, isn't it? Everything is life or death for them. I remember spending a whole day in bed, crying and praying for a boy to call me. Thank God he didn't! :H
Swannie, poppies were a real big thing here when I was a child. We were given them in schools and everyone wore them. I love the poem about them too.
Fen, both of sister's children (by diff father's) practically lived with me. She's estranged from her son, but he still calls me. And that makes her mad too.
Juggling rental move ins-move outs, making calls. Saw Hubs exactly 1 hour last night (7:30-8:30) and most of that was spent eating and getting ready for bed, so we talk on the phone a lot. Will be glad when this is over.
Keep busy, Rog. Slowly but surely you're making it!
MB, make a plan for the trip. And have good sober fun!!

Hello, family. Well, we are leaving in the morning to go to the funeral at 2:00. It is a 4 hour drive. I am really weak and tired, but I have to go. I woke up in severe pain at 2 this morning and sufered until 4, when I took a pain pill. I'm planning to rest today. Ruby, did your friend have a kidney transplant or a pancreas transplant? Honestly, I am too fragile to have any more surgeries. Most people with diabetes as long as I have had lose their kidneys first and have to go on dialysis. I was so fortunate to have lost my stomach first and was able to get the gastro pacer that makes it work fine. I'm not sure about the kidneys. They just told me that only 50% of mine worked. The only thing I know to do is keep constant eye on my blood sugar and drink lots of water to flush any sugar out. But if I died today, I have had a wonderful life, learned so much and made so many dear, precious friends here and I thank you all for your love and prayers. This isn't a goodbye letter though. I will keep fighting the fight and enjoy every precious day I have. Paul has been so good taking care of me since I got out of the hospital and he hasn't drank in a very long time, so I am very thankful. I'll check back in on Monday, when I get back. I love you all so much! Love, Vicki
