Hi all
Well we had many different fruits and pizza rolls for TG. Can you tell I hate to cook???hahaha...spent the day sleeping and reading. Put up xmas lights..got up early for homework and then foud 2 refurbished ipods online and that is all the kids want is that 1 thing so bought with credit card (oh well). Waited too long last year and couldnt find refurbished so my shopping is done....off to football game soon, we leave at lunch...gonna be a long night..have a good day all...saw a mother racoon and her 3 babes last eve cross the road in front of house...

Don't know where to start, so I won't. Everyone coming here tomorrow, MIL has 3 doc appointments for test next week, and she's terrified. I promised I'd be there the whole time. May shoot Hub's half-brother and wife next. I've asked them for help. DUH!!! All houses are rented, even the one under renovation.
So much has gone on here I can't tell it all. So I'll leave you with this - there are window peeping, flying cats in my backyard. One almost took me out yesterday. Glad you all had a great holiday.
PS: Broke the news to Hubs today the serious search is on for a new Rottie pup. When he balked, I reminded him of his incontinent Jack Ass Russell Terrorist. 'Nuff said.

Ho well it is over had a great dinner just 7 of us I cooked all day and everything turned out just right and I had one drink but I watched my sister drink a whole bottel of wine. My dad can't drink the kids can't drink and Lisa did not. So I know she hade the whole bottel. Now it is time for Christmas!!!!!

Hey, Ruby. I hope you have a nice weekend with all of your family and that everyone plays nice!! Will you be able to rest after it's all over...or is rest just something we women dream of??? Hi all hope all is well. Ruby...rethink the Rottie pup..... Never got it myself. There is a stereotype- stigmatism about people who NEED/WANT to have these dogs in average homes. (not show,or junkyard guard dogs ect...) and it is NOT good. I must say...
In every one of my experiences... Yes......... These are TRUE.... I know I know.... They are a beautiful dog.... But a place and space, YES. .... Not in an average home. These are dogs of POWER and if an average person needs this dog it sends the WRONG message.... As in people will want to know WHAT are you protecting? Or compensating for? Just saying. Please don't take me wrong. New York is different than the south, perhaps a different meaning there. G:l

I know a family PERSONALLY,great,loving, kind to it and this dog mis-interpreted a family friend and attacked and scarred for life this
Person known to it , to no avail of it's Master's commands to cease. Don't do it. The breed is wrong for a family with high traffic like yours and your tenants.

My neighbor had one and it was fine until she gave birth to her son, then it attacked the neighbor children and got into a scrap with a golden who came to the children's rescue. This Golden came out of nowhere. It must have sensed the danger and tackled the Rottie

Georgie my daughter has a Rottie Sharp-pei (spelling?) mix and he is the biggest teddy bear you could ever want to meet. He is awesome with the children - all he wants is to be loved. He is so gentle - I would trust him with them every time.
Biz - so pleased that you had a good day yesterday - great on the just one drink! That is so awesome!
Fen - have fun at the cabin! Try and rest and have fun!
Hi Jan - sounds like you had a good day except that awful meal - Yuck!
Ruby - hope all is okay with you.....you REALLY need to get some R & R though!!

I am going to be heading off to bed very early tonight - work was LONG - well, it flew by, but we were so busy! I think the Christmas season is upon us! I am opening tomorrow morning - at least I won't have to worry about parking! LOL

G, I had a long, informative post for you, but will just say I appreciate your opinion, but have had them for 20 years. It's all in the love of the breed, understanding, knowing your animal. And TMB has enabled me to have great independence and companionship. I treat all dogs like a loaded gun; never get careless, underestimate the possibilities, but my life would be vastly different without the wonderful friends I've had. Some have literally saved the life of me and my family. i protect TMB more than I feel anyone who doesn't mean me harm needs to be protected. My grands have always considered our Rotties just another kid in the mix, and adore them. She does them too. They're not for the indescriminate, the 'bad ass' dog persona, and as with people, you do get the genetically bad egg occasionally. But mine have made my life so much better, safer, fuller, and without them I don't know how I could have the independance I do. TMB is trained (by me!) to stay by my side, help me up steep slopes, watch the path in front of me. She's grabbed up and killed snakes when I never saw them, with no fear. Here, we have a lot of potentially dangerous predators. She's my security blanket when I travel alone, my path watcher when I'm hiking. I've had people ask if I'm not worried when she's around my grands (who all love her), and I tell them my only worry is that they give her the idea they may hurt me or the kids. But I never leave her alone with chldren any more than I leave loaded guns. She's my responsibility.
She's aging, unfortunately, and I want to get a pup to learn from her as I train it. I use only reputable breeders I've worked with, though I've driven hundreds of miles to rescue others and gave them good lives. Hubs knows what they mean to me, and have meant to him in not having to worry about me when I'm travelling. He's just doing his 'bargaining' thing right now, since he understands how important dogs are in my life.
So, again, I appreciate your input, but this is something I know well and have researched. They should NEVER be kept in small areas, left alone for long periods, or underestimated. It's just that I can no more imagine TMB, or any before her, becoming dangerous and vicious without cause. I closed a tailgate on her foot once, and in pain she snapped her mouth around my wrist, while she was trapped, but didn't bite and looked at me like 'please forgive me'. Having any dog is about learning, knowing, loving, understanding, it's own personality. For me, I'm crazy about the breed.
