Ok I quit drinking over 7 months ago after i thought I was hopeless. Now i need to quit smoking. I didnt want to do both at the same time and i figured if I could quit drinking then quitting smoking would come easy but later. Well now is the time. I knew i didnt want to die a drunk and now i know i dont want to die from smoking. Quitting drinking has been tough but with your support i have done it. Now i need your support and help to quit smoking. Many of you have quit smoking and i would love some advice. How did you do it? Meds, books, online support? What works? I need to do this. For those of you who want to quit smoking, would you like to join me?
Thanks!AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.

I did it cold turkey, god, and this webside Quit Smoking All Together: the Web's Largest Quit Smoking Community
YOU CAN DO IT! I am also DriftyAlison0 over there and my short smoking career (on and off for 1 week ended Jan. 12, 2008 and I am 3 years NF. It took me 2 times to get it though.I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.
Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.
Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Hey Red
Great for you for your AF time. Excellent!
I quit both at once and I know how hard it is.
I quit smoking for 20 years then picked it up
5 yrs ago after divorce-stupid!
I have found that exercise is my answer. I like
exercise, and I find that the feeling if being
able to accomplish goals physically is nice.
Plan to do a 5k within 6 months; used to run a lot
but that like everything will mow be in moderation
BTW-there's a site that could help called
"whyquitnow". This site advocates cold turkey
rather than nicotine replacement, as do I.
Let me know how you're doing and good luck!!

Red, I never had a problem with smoking. I used to be able to smoke a few cigarettes at parties and a certain other occasions but never got hooked. I wish I had the same relationship with alcohol. Anyway, if you are not aware of it, Allen Carr's first book, Easy Way to Stop Smoking seems to have helped a lot of people. Good Luck!!!!
