I've never understood the terminology for naming relatives in this country. Great uncles. Relatives that are twice removed. What on earth does that mean? My mother is Danish, so we use the Danish terminology. Mother is Mor and father is Far. So mother's mother is Mormor and mother's father is Morfar, and so on. It's much simpler and less ambiguous. In English, grandfather could be one of two people.

I've still got a Grandma (she's still with us at 97) who is my kids Great Grandma, she also a Great Auntie, a Great Great Auntie and somewhere along the line I thinks she's a Great Great Great Auntie. Mind you that is because she is not only great but fantastic too.

Mind you I have no idea what on earth second cousins twice removed are.

Oh and I sometimes call my close cousin my sister because I can't be bothered to explain why her kids call me Aunt JC.

                Hello Army!
I had a 100% being a mum day. I think the kids needed it and so did I. Pool and playground with the little one and some serious talk time-in a good way-with my daughter. I have to keep reminding myself that just because she is "the good child" with no school problems or whatever does not mean she doesn't need to have a listening ear and more of my attention. So overall-a good day.
Molly-I think you are going to work things out.:l It may not be easy but I can tell from your posts that there is a lot of love in your home. And as the others have said-you have us here too. God, we can understand!! :l
I also spent an hour on the phone with an old friend from back home. We have very similar backgrounds and it was lovely to catch up-laugh and cry about old times but also talk about the future. She is also an expat now. And she's sober since last May so you can imagine that gave us a few things to talk about too.
I discovered a forum on Irishtimes.com called ...searching for paper where I wrote this down...ok-can't find it. But it's "Generation Emigration" with some interesting stories-some funny, some that had tears streaming down my face and a lump in my throat-like "It was like a wake, my own funeral" when a young man left for Canada. Overall, very uplifting because people are sharing their experiences and giving advice etc. *sigh*
Hopefully tomorrow I can catch up a bit more. Only one class and a vet visit for pug dog so the day is pretty open.
                x

Hello Pingu! x post. Going to find something to eat. I gave the children their dinner while I was jabbering on the phone with my friend. Now-I'm starving.

It was nice Molly-I think but emotional too. I even skyped my mother. Feeling slightly drained but re-heating dinner so I don't go to bed hungry. Not good.
Did your ham turn out allright-even without the coke? It warms my heart when I hear that your daughter still gets in bed with you to watch telly. I hope it's the same with my kids. :l

I always have been slim molly, up until the last few months. The sheer amount of alcohol has taken it's toll on me and I'm about a stone over my normal weight. Not happy about it at all and it's going to come off. I've started titrating down on the drink, so that should help.

Jackie, have you seen this web site? My mother sent it to me yesterday.

                        Big :hallo: to all!

Spent the day (gorgy day, btw) bringing in this winter's wood and stacking it outside. Kinda pooped and ready for a nana nap now

Molly, luv the fact that your daughter crawls in to bed with you... how old is she?
Expat.. that's an excellent point... the 'good' one deserving just as much attention as the ones who demand it all the time! I think I may have failed that part when mine were teenagers.

I just realized I'm hungry, too. Funny, how that always creeps up when I read the Army Thread (ahem TIPS, KTAB, JC, etc.) :H

Ok, will find food then will find blankie.. laterz!
