Thank you so much everyone - I had not remembered seeing the rainbow bridge before - it is wonderful - I know I had to do this - I couldn't let her suffer, and bone cancer is so painful. Ben, our rescue sheltie now has to be given extra loves as he will be wondering what is going on - I did take him with me though. Can't sleep - hence being up at this time. Thank you all so much for your prayers and your love. I know that you all understand what I am going through.
Love and hugs,

Sweetheart, hope my post didn't make you feel worse. Some of the worst pain in my life was losing Wolfie. But in anything, we grieve alone, since the one we grieve for isnt' there to share it. I KNOW Maggie had a wonderful, beloved life. And you and I know, there is a place that she will be remembered as long as it can be. Love to you and your Maggie angel.

No Rubes - it didn't. I feel so loved to have so many folk on here share with me. What is so hard is the big hole in the house where she was - for such a smallish dog, it is a mighty big gap! I keep looking round for her 'cos she was always by me. Thank you Ruby and thank everyone else - all the support does help :h

My thoughts are with you. I was in same boat in March with my sweet Toby. I had him forever. He was so sick and in pain when I let him go. I dont regret it at all. I will miss him forever but you and I did the best thing for our babies. I know it hurts and thats ok to feel it. It will get easier and you will be able to smile at the memories again. Maggie doesnt want you to be sad for long though. She is right there with you. Take care... I hope my words help a little... Shiner

I am so sorry Sunni. You did the right thing. I had to do the same thing with my beloved Mel. She was my companion for 11 years, moving out with us from CA to PA years ago. She was with me through teh births of my first two girls and a very painful divorce. My best friend. We were all so heartbroken when she got sick. I made her a site on Rainbow Bridge and it helped the girls and I heal. I keep her collar in my jewelry box. Sending you love and healing.

SunnyD, I found this that my vet sent me when I lost Wolfie. I think it is beautiful too.
A Parting Prayer
Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.
Assign her to a place of honor,
for she has been a faithful servant
and has always done her best to please me.
Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.
Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life
with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her
by sharing those memories with others.
Let her remember me as well
and let her know that I will always love her.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow her to accompany those
who will bring me home.
Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of her companionship
and for the time we've had together.
And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give her to you now.
Amen.sigpic

K-9, that is SO beautiful!! My dogs have been with me when humans have failed me, or I've been alone during a heart rending loss. The tears I've cried into my dogs fur would overwhelm any person I know, but they just lick my face, and tell me with their eyes it will be okay.
Please, pet lovers, just post your feelings here. This started for Maggie, but all of us who have seen the angels we are priviledged to share time with (even when they chew our wallets and pee on our rugs) have stories. My life would be so much colder without their unquestioning love and acceptance. Your name tells me you understand.sigpic
