    Newbie - hello all!

Hi everyone. New here, kind of scary!

My story is that I've been binge drinking on and off for about 9 years now. I have 2 young children and am married - obviously didn't drink each time I was pregnant but after they were born, my drinking has been going up and up. Although I don't drink every single day, I can't go longer than 4 days usually, then drink 2 bottles of wine. Sometimes i get drunk every other day, again, necking 2 bottles. It may not seem like a lot to some, but I'm only little.

Recently it's been affecting my marriage and my health. I have problems with my gallbladder and alcohol aggravates that. Twice in the past 6 weeks I have ended up in hospital, both times after binges. I did talk to the counsellor in hospital which was only a few days ago, and he was really nice and offered to arrange counselling, but it feels too scary just now. So thought I'd come here instead. It's got to be better than doing nothing, right?

So, I'm on day 4 of no alcohol, which as I said, is my 'danger zone'. I thought talking about it with people who know what I'm going through would be helpful. My husband is great, but he's teetotal, so does not understand at all really. I would like - eventually - to be able to drink in a controlled way, which my husband doesn't mind at all - he just doesn't want me to be ill every time I drink.

    Thanks for reading x

    Welcome, Willow!

You will find tons of support here! Keep posting!!

I am a former binge drinker, and your patterns of drinking replicate my past.

I quit the madness. It took a while, but, finally decided that life was worth living, and my health was worth it as well.

Glad to have you here!! :l

      Newbie - hello all!

Well, hellllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooh Willow and welcome to maybe THE best message board on the intardwebnets!

You made a great decision to quit the habit, I have discovered that nothing really great ever happened while I was drinking/drunk, nope, not one time!

There are many people on here going through what you are, and more than willing to help and offer advice. You will learn, laugh, and cry on here. Whatever you do, stick with it, no matter how bad you think you NEED a drink, I promise you life will go on if you dont, and it will look and feel better AF(Alcohol Free)

I wish you good luck and strength in your journey, it should get a little easier, a little at a time.

        Newbie - hello all!

        Hey Willow

I am also a mother of young children and a binge drinker too. My husband works away for 2 weeks at a time and I tend to binge big time when he is home. Then I started to have the odd bottle of wine when he was away and slowly it was creeping up.

With the help of MWO........reading heaps....using the toolbox....I am managing to survive my danger zone. My husband is home, he drinks but not much. I even bought him AL today and it really felt empowering to be able to enter a liqour store and not buy AL for me.

Hang around here.....it will really help.....especially when the urges are strong. I am on AF day 18 now.

            Newbie - hello all!

Hello. So many people here to read about their stories and exchange thoughts with - take advantage and enjoy. We all suffer or have suffered the same things.

I personally could not moderate after 2 years of trying but I know many have. It seems for those who can a really good plan and some willpower and you can get through the bewitching hours.

            Best of luck.

Welcome to this site William. Check the https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...box-27556.html and be sure to set up a plan and stick to it. Also having a support group both online and offline will work as well.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.
