    Two interesting things

    Hey All
I was wondering if you guys were aware of a couple of things-
One is that during withdrawal from alcohol
a common symptom is a tingling sensation of
    legs or arms.
The other thing is that when you are AF and then
drink, that once you have made up your mind
as in "Oh hell screw it -I'm gettin some beer."
then there are physiological changes in your body
    in anticipation of drinking.
    Did you guys know this?

    Hi Ann,

No experience with the tingling, but the 2nd point.........yep. I notice that.

'I am part of all that I have met, yet all experience is an arch wherethro', gleams that untravelled world whose margins fade, forever and forever when I move'

I was not aware of the changes your body goes through when you start drinking again after being AF, would love it if you'd expand.

        Two interesting things

I never knew about the changes especially the second one. But looking back in my previous quits, I could feel the anticipation when I decided to drink.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

          More research

          Hey guys
Did some more research on this. Apparently
the reason for anticipation of drinking causing
          measurable physiological changes involves memory.
And memory is key to addiction in the first place
in terms of brain changes. Very interesting.
          I watched a terrific video of a U Wisconsin
prof speaking about alcohol; excellent biological
and chemical info (GABA, glutamate, chemical
structure of alcohol, it's effect on proteins etc)
          I'll find a link

              Hi Ann
This is very interesting- I haven't experienced the tingling (only when I am drinking) but I have noticed the pleasurable anticipation, guity though it may be.
I'd be really grateful to know more
              Thanks

I had a friend who experienced the tingling, and I'm not surprised at all that there are physiological changes in anticipation of drinking once you've gone AF! I'm fascinated with the scientific component of addiction. That's why I'm learning meditation. They have proof that it can also change your neural pathways.

                  Check out this guy

                  PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF ETHANOL
                  scifun.chem.wisc.edu/GenChem/.../Strang.htm
Kevin Strang has been a lecturer/faculty associate in the Physiology and ...
                  This is really good.
Meditation is great for changing neural pathways.
I agree Unwasted the details of alcohol biologically
are fascinating. I read earlier about "blackouts"
from alcohol and the cause involving protein receptors
and ability to form short term memories.
Apparently ethanol has an uncanny ability to
"unlock" cellular receptors to cause all sorts of
                  havoc.
The lecture of Strang is 48 minutes; I'm going to
                  try to find more
