    Army thread 19th November

Stirls, you are NOT driving 40 years??
You're right, it's not been 40 years. I got my beginner's licence (had to have a licenced driver in the passenger seat) in 1968. So that would make it 43 years. Did I just say that?

Driving has always been one of the great pleasures in my life. We went for holidays as a family when I was just a month short of being 17. Six of us in the car and towing a tent-trailer. It looked like this -

We drove from my home town - near Toronto - to Vancouver Island and back through the northern United States. A distance of well over 7000 kilometres and my Dad and I shared the driving. I'd even learned to back up and park the tent-trailer which is no easy task as it goes in the opposite direction that the car goes in reverse. I drove through the Canadian Rocky Mountains which was a challenge in itself, all those uphills and turns and on the last day of our trip, drove 12 hours straight. And I loved every minute of it.

That just really made me laugh as I'm sitting here like a sad old rocker listening to Rock Night on Absolute radio.

Actually since I've been going to SW and having to plan the menus for the week we have saved a bit of money. I must have saved a small fortune not buying crisps, cheese, chocolate and biccies.Jackie, it is amazing how those things add up. I am constantly gobsmacked when I go to the supermarket and see people who have a cart full of groceries and of the 30 items in their cart, only 5 are real food like milk, meat and fruit or veggies. And they complain about the price of living. Feck me. Cut out all that shite that you buy and your grocery bill will be much less.

There is nothing nothing worse than fighting with the buggers, it is absolutely horrible - thankfully I haven't had a MIL to get in the middle of it. I am the MOST juvenile fighter (when I'm not 100% in de wrong, then I'm just suicidal) I stick my fingers up behind his back and stick out my tongue --- ridiculous! It'll be all ok, the money fights are nearly the worst (hence the pencil skirt in the voddie cupboard).
I'm driving since I was 16 and I'm 55 now, so reckon your mammy was prob preggers with you when I started:upset:
Very jealous of Mario Sooty and Zennie with all that friggin exercise --- I just keep talking about what a lazy slut I am.Hiya Mollers. Could we say slug instead of slut??? Please...:H

I buy a lot of that shite Jacks......
Oney - don't take what I said above personally or anything, but the wee ones would really be better off with a banana or a box of raisins instead of a choccie bar or a bag of crisps. Just saying... not criticizing or anything. I know it's really, really hard to stick to healthy food for our kids when we're constantly surrounded by junk food. And at the supermarket, we've got our cart filled with healthy food and when we get to the checkout, there are stands filled with gum and choccies and candy that the kids get to look at while we're waiting in line.

You'll have to forgive me if I's a bit distracted now, cos it's Strictly time .... and I am a fan, there I've said it ... my name is Sooty and I love Strictly!
            Wot's "Strictly"???

                      :hallo: Army

It turned out to be a busy day. I had my first swim of summer in between everything else. Yay!!! It's still very hot - must be around 26C and it's almost 10.00. I'll need to buy mozzie repellent tomorrow, though. The little feckers are out in full force. Luckily no risk of Malaria in these parts. I'll spray on some of the cub's deodorant. The shite smells vile. I'm sure it'll put off insects, too.
                      I'll do whatever it takes

We have it in Greece, too. I like to follow it.

Ladies, am off to walk my dogger and then to bed. I need my beauty sleep.
