I'm just a bit too... well.... I haven't got the energy for trying that on just now. 10 years ago I'd have bagged it! )

Maybe I'll get my groove on sometime soon... fingers crossed. )
Totally understand. Ten years ago I was so full of drive and ambition, but it all melted away over the years. Obviously the booze played its part in that.

Hello everyone, lovely to see Starty startying todays thread. Tips I will swap you the sanding for my task today, preparing the car for it's test tomorrow and it's raining. Just thinking about the mention of an old thread looking back to last December, its been a strange year and I have absolutely no idea where I will be next dec, a year AF under my belt and my money issues abated perhaps?

              Hello again
Beautiful morning here-cold and crisp with blue skies.
Molly-I hope your son will listen to your family and just get the Leaving Cert. under his belt. These days it is so necessary, I think. Then if he wants to take a break from school, why not? I know it is such a stressful time for the kids but if he gets that cert. in his pocket he'll really be happy he did it. One day!:H
My daughter is only 15 and still has three years to go and she's already crying about school. She's a very good student but her father puts loads of pressure on her. He's already talking about where she'll go to university-and of course he's picked out a really difficult school (kinda like trying to get into Trinity) so she's really stressed out. I just keep telling her not to worry about it-just take one year at a time and do your best. Speaking of which, she has two essays to finish up before Monday. Blah.

                Morning ktabs and molly

Eeew to the manky underpants, mollers!

Good luck with the car, ktabs. Mine's due for its MOT in a couple of weeks, but I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to prepare it for the test.

Back from notsofrigginsainsburys. It's still foggy in places, but above the fog there's a completely cloudless sky, the sun's coming up, and it promises to be a beautiful day. We've not had many of those this year.

                  Army thread 19th November

Hello again, was off reading around.
Molly have a good day at work sans lunatic woman.
Reccie, quick oil change, check all lights are working and pointing in the right direction, change the wiper blades oh and DW points to where there is a sponge and bucket grrr.
Expat I totally hear your daughter and it's a tough call between wanting thebest for them yet not pilling on the pressure further. I hated school with a passion and couldnt wait to leave, although I did go on to third level I realise now I probably haven't fulfilled my potential and given my time over probably should have continued. But regrets are a waste of time, we should just learn from them and move on.

Expatty, I can really really empathise and sympathise with your daughter on this one. My father put an unbearable amount of pressure on me to get into Oxford Uni from about the age of 13. It made my life an absolute misery. It was one of the many ways in which my father ruined my childhood for me. Try to shield your daughter from the pressure as much as you can. On second thoughts, who am I to give advice on how to bring up a child? I should shut up.

That doesn't sound too bad tabbers. Reckon even I could manage that. Only time my car gets washed is when we have a really heavy downpour. No sponge involved though.
