Evening All,
JC reporting for duty for the evening shift.
KTabbers, if you need a reference I'm yer woman.
Mr JC tidied a mass of old books out of the loft so I've got a load to go to charity and a load of books I haven't read for ages and ages. Oh and he found my leather bound copy of Wuthering Heights that my Nana bought for my 16th birthday. I'm well pleased. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Trouble is it's not mine. The daughter was given it by my Auntie.
Oh I used to love library day when I was a kid. Me Mammy used to go every Wednesday morning to change the books.
Claudine at St Clare's was my favourite. And I felt so grown up when I read my first Agatha Christie. It could be worse, I could be filing.

I was like that until about 10 years ago, and I just couldn't get interested in any book - discarded dozens half way through. I really didn't tie it in with the drinking, cos the 'disinterest' started before I was really 'problem' drinking, but oh yes, they are so linked with me anyhows. I am now loving reading again, actually look forward to going to bed to read the next chapters. It's a very big thing to me, if I've less than 3 books lined up that I want to read now I get panicky --- sorry I know you were asking Jackser, but .... well I just butted in I s'pose

Speaking of old books - on the way back to the car after our long walk around Athens yesterday, we went through the National Park which is right next to Constitution Square. At one of the buildings, we saw a lot of cars parked outside, which is unusual, so we decided to go see what was going on. I'm a born snoop, period. Luckily, Mr. Stirly goes along with me. Anyway, as we approached, we saw people coming out with clear plastic bags with gift-wrapped parcels and such in them and I said - :yay: a Christmas bazaar!! And that's what it was. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to look at the tables and displays, but what I bee-lined to as soon as I saw it was a table of used books. Paperbacks here are rather expensive and I rarely buy them so when I saw the sign - 2 books for 1 euro - I headed straight there. Ended up with 8 books total - 2 by Ken Follett, 1 each by Erich Segal, Rosamunde Pilcher, Victoria Fyodorova, John Grisham, Colleen McCollough and Arthur Hailey. Then I bought a raffle ticket for 10 euro and won a lovely bracelet from this store...

which is worth at least 30 euro. I was chuffed to bits. inkele:

Evening again, flying visit before my dinner. Thanks everyone for your kind words and support. Just thinking I have never signed on a day in 32 yrs working and don't plan to start now, fingers crossed I find something very soon. I imagine dec & jan most companies don't hire and I can't survive for another 12 weeks.
Now to books, well Reccie I love biographies and have read quite a lot. When I was drinking heavily I quite regularly used to have to reread whole chapters again as I wouldn't remember what I had read half drunk.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Stirls, that bracelet is gorgeous.
Now to books. Crikey now you're asking. Depends on what I'm in the mood for. Could be a nice big bonk-buster to something like Madam Bovary via Stephen King.
Stirls, Mr JC lurves John Grisham. It could be worse, I could be filing.
