      Morning Undies,

Giraffe reporting in from beautiful but overcast downtown St. Kilda. Last night's family gig was fanbloodytastic; eleven adults, two teenagers and a new 8-month old nephew. Funny how a new littlie brings out the best in people. Fine food, loads of laughs (thanks to animated Christmas hats) Started at 5, finished at midnight, total slops consumed 2x fizz, 1 x red and 4 light beers. Bloody lightweights. More proof that I must have been adopted.

Now for a slow stroll to the next adventure ... lunch!

          Gidday all undies!

Giraffe - glad you had a good family occasion! Roll on 2012 :H

Beagle - we bought our ham yesterday. The state of our finances means that we didn't buy a happy organic free range piggy this year ..... I dont eat much meat any more, but I must admit I do like the Xmas ham!

Speaking of which - I have a SIL coming for Xmas who is Chinese, Buddhist, doesn't eat meat, but is rather partial to mussels. I am not quite sure of what I can serve her (or not) but if anyone has any advice I would be grateful to receive it! I'll dot he google thing but sometimes MWO is quicker

Bridge - I've had a couple of shit weeks lately too and have likewise been teary. I just wish that I could get teary in appropriate places where I could give in to it (like at home) instead of having it hit me in places like cafes or walking down the street. I am telling myself it is menopausal hormone imbalance and just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Threw myself into the garden today and tackled a particularly difficult bank that is very steep and with very clay-ey soil. I went to get some pea-straw for nutrition and the sales person at the place I go to talked me into coaco-husks from Ghana instead. I have put on two layers and now my garden smells like chocolate
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

That is a real shame Happs. If it doesn't arrive by tomorrow, let me know and I'll send up my copy. I sent cash in a card to a friend in Vic unregistered on Friday. I'll ring her Tues to see if she got it.

Lets just see what this week brings Raggsey. Ya never know. In the meantime I am glaring at all passers by....

Hear you on the tears whilst out Missy....I'm trying to save it for when I'm at home on my own but it creeps into the day to day. Love the idea of a garden that smells like chocolate. Now if you could only break off a piece and EAT it...

Anyway, I feel a shiteload better just for coming on here and consolidating my thoughts.
I'm going to take my chai and head for bed (my own, at last), and have a good long sleep....
                    Thanks folk.

What a bunch of sops we all are at the moment....I think this time of year is stressful without adding extra stresses.

Happy.....post is very bad atm.....auspost weren't able to deal with all the international shopping that happened this year and there is a massive backlog. I am missing a parcel that were posted overseas in early November and that is what auspost told me. Missing heaps aswell that were posted in Dec.

Christmas cake in the oven and letters to santa done. 2 more days till hubby is home and a trip back to the hospital to get the results of the finger......toddler now has a new word - Stuck....

                          Hi Beags,
I'm OK, just not looking forward to Mr Rags' family Xmas lunch. I try to only go every second or third year, but as Mr Rags' dad is quite ill I'll go this year. Don't get on with a couple of family members.

Having been a slacko and not trimmed the Westringia for 12 months, Mr Rags buys me an early Xmas presso last week. A STIHL hedge trimmer.
But I've decided to take it out (the Westringia) and replace with a few Grevillea Peaches and creams and a Grevillea "Sylvia" progress piccies in due course. Why oh why have I decided to do this just before Xmas!!!

Woke this morning to the sounds of kookaburras, a lyre bird , a raven and a whip bird. Managed to drown out the tinnitus for a few minutes.

Yesty made 2 gravlax. piccies to follow

                            TAWNS GRAVLAX.... with variations.....

                            Get your pieces of salmon.
Get your herbs and peppper. Get Mr Rags to crush.

Spread mixture and salt over salmon. Mr Rags has also put a bit of whisky on this one.

Next piece is my creation...... GINGER!!! And dill.

Stash in fridge with two Austral Brick pavers wrapped in bright blue placcy bags to weigh down the salmon.

                            Note mangos.

                            I love mango season.

                            And avocado season.

                            And cherry season.
