Mish, Rottnest is now my dream vacation. But NEKKID Quokkas?? The look adorable. Maybe we can smuggle a couple out in our taco truck.

As for Addie and the cleaning, Gracie always asks me for a wooden skewer and cloths, then goes around my dryer and other appliances cleaning the little crevices. All the girls are quick to grab a broom, dust cloth, and I'm proud of that. Their mother is OCD about cleaning, but her solution is to throw everything away or hide it in a storage space.

Rottnest really is beautiful, Ruby. They're planning "tasteful" 5 Star Accomodation at the moment...the big idea is to keep the Island as historic as possible, and there are some very strict guidelines in place, but I think the Taco Truck and our dear little commune would be more in keeping with the natural feel of the place. The quokka joeys are like baby mice, born naked. Fen has been so industrious knitting tiny little hair layettes for them since the days in Dos Gatos. It has always been part of our plan to smuggle some out in the truck.

OCD are we talking? All my cupboards (pantry, linen, bathroom) have everything arranged in order, in alpahbetical order where possible (ie, spices), and all labels must be facing the front.
I'm serious about this.

Anyway, an update. Brooke rang me at 8:30 pm last night to say Mother was in the ER at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital with an impacted bowel. She's chockers full of calciated poops like little lumps of jagged concrete (or so I'm told). A 'dear little Chinese Doctor' had his arm up her bottom getting them out. Yes, I know, too much information, but I had to hear it and form a mental picture so why shouldn't you? She's off her face on Morphine and keeps asking for the strangest things, but at least she's being kept under observation.
There's a development in the Ashe and the kids situation, too. She texted me and asked if she and the kids can stay here for a few weeks from 11th December. Of course I said yes, so Brooke and I are arranging going down and getting them and Plan A and Plan B in case I can't cope with the invasion. My OCD (some might use the term 'anal' to describe my style of keeping house) makes me a nervous wreck and it's difficult to look laid back when the whole system is coming undone. If I need 'time out' I'm going to go and stay at Mother's and Brooke can stay here to help entertain the kids.
I'm terribly excited to have them here, all that being said. In fact, I can't wait. Bit of a paradox, really.

Oh, and can someone PM me instructions on what to do so I can view the video?

Today is my day off from work - and it's a beautiful sunny day here...i woke up full of energy and pep.

Currently I'm cleaning the apartment and later am going to go for a long walk by the sea before meeting a friend for lunch later on today. She is one of my best friends and very level headed. I am starting with her about telling people I am quitting drinking. Unfortunately in the work that we both do, socialising is very important, but because we often work together - she'll be the one to help me stay with water instead of the all importance AL.

Afterwards, my husband and I are planning on going to see a film and maybe dinner.

A day without a wine fugg is a great thing.

Good Morning Saysomething - welcome and good for you for having a plan - sounds like you are feeling good about this - it is nice that you have the help of your friend too!! I wish I could go for a walk by the sea - used to live by the sea - now live thousands of miles from it!!
Mish - I feel for you with Ashe et al coming to stay - especially seeing the pictures of your cupboards! But it is good of you to have them to stay with you. So sorry about your mum - at least she is out of it so doesn't really know what is going on. You have a lot going on right now - at least you can go and stay at your mum's to get away for a bit should it all get too much for you. Hang in there friend!!
Gosh - so many other posts - I got in from work so late last night and am opening this morning.
Kelly - so sorry about Leah - she will be in my prayers - so sad - she is so young.... Be careful driving today won't you and hope Jeremy likes the college. Have a fun day and make an adventure out of it.

Wow...so many posts since I was here last night...which is a good thing! That means that we all feel comfortable coming here and sharing!

First, let me say welcome to Saysomething....I'm glad you're here and it sounds like you live in a beautiful place. Maybe you can post pics?

Roger--Please do talk to your boss and thank goodness your truck didn't get damaged or even worse, that nobody got hurt...but is sounds like it's bound to happen if that guy doesn't stop.....

Thank you to everyone about all your comments about the pictures & videos....Vicki & her family are so sweet and welcoming....I think it was more of a "present" for me to go......see, I was being selfish...I just needed a get-away for ME!! Okay..so now I'm gonna start planning my next escape...oh, wait..Ruby is picking me up on the way to Tick Hollow, right??????

Mish-I'm so happy that your daughter will be staying with you...it's the right thing to do. Okay...I have a lot to do before my road trip...thankfully, I am not driving....Becky always does the driving because she says I drive like a Grandma (which I am a Grandma)...but I always have to sit in the back and either read a book or close my eyes because she is such a fast driver and I am a nervous passenger! My family laughs at me.....glad I can amuse them.

Welcome Saysomething! Like Sun said, it does sound idyllic to be able to plan a day like you describe. Mamma Bear can maybe give you some tips on dealing with the employment socializing, since she's constantly travelling to events on business. And yes, it is nice in the evening to actually be aware of your surrounding. I hosted a teen-age boy from Spain several years ago, and was told a lot about the drinking habits there, so it's great you are taking a stand, and as always, it IS a personal choice. We're glad to have you here.
Rog, that guy could have hit you, pinned you to the truck, injured you permanently or worse. That's an intolerable situation. IMHO, you should move quickly and decisively. Unless he's your bosses son or nephew, there's no reason for him to be there. And your boss needs to understand his liability in the situation. It's a big reason I put those people out so quickly, since I was either legally or morally responsible for their damaging the community. Sounds like your co-worker and my renter were related!!
Mishy, aside from the visual :wow:, since my daughter works in medicine, I HAVE heard of that. It's common in people on strong medications with not enough fluid intake, and very painful. Let's just say I'm glad everything 'came out' alright. Tell me, do you organize your clothing as meticulously as your cabinets, like all brown socks together, all bras color sorted, etc? Hmmm, yeah. Guilty here too. And since I've been too busy to keep it up, I'm overwhelmed. A crooked picture on the wall drives me :nutso: Good luck with your visitors. I'm always happy to see them arrive, and thrilled when they leave!

Grateful, has your family noticed or commented on your new independance? If they're like mine, they don't like change when it involves the care they're used to from me. You wouldn't believe the litany of excuses I get from Hubs when I go to the cabin, or the 'why didn't you wait till I could go's' from everyone else. :H From all the posts surely you can tell how proud of you we all are.
I've made an appointment to see my dental surgeon Monday, so that little trip to the fun park is imminent. ((sigh)) I've always had the worst teeth since George Washington. Oh, maybe that explains it since he's up there in my family tree somewhere. Along with the gggg-uncle who had to leave the state after drunkenly riding his horse into the courthouse and shooting out all the kerosene lamps. Or the one from the 18880 census described under occupation as 'idiot'. Can't make this stuff up.

Sun, Mrs. Fen is not the "nurturing" type...however, I am happy to report that she is working me less hard than she has been...even allowing me to sleep in today! I think I'm running a fever. Mish, I've never been diagnosed with it, but I do see some similiarities in me! I just thought that was the way everything was suppose to go. I love things neat, clean and in order. I used to alphabetize my spices, color coordinate my clothes, etc, but because of my health problems, I just can't seem to keep up. I freak out if someone comes to my house and it is not clean.
