Mish, I was exhausted after reading your post love!
Pops goes home today and my 16 year-old Clay, is going to be his caretaker. Nana cannot manage him by herself, so sweet Clay is going to stay a few days with them. I know he doesn't really want to, but he says it's the least he can do and we truely love and worry about them.
Today is last day of work till next Tuesday...thank heavens
lots of shopping to do tomorrow and prepping for Christmas meal at nana's house
fried turkey, beef tenderloin, ham, veggies, bread, pies, etc
I love my family more than alcohol.:h

        Awwh, Thanks, G.
MB, REALLY!? Do those big men of yours inhale that much food at a time? Tay asked last night if we're having honey baked ham, and I WASN'T, wanted to go with beef tenderloin, but I guess now it's ham.
VERY good lesson for Clay, actually spending time with elderly, especially someone he loves. And his grandfather will be rewarded more than you'll know.
May have said this before, but my avatar is 1980, with my son and nephew in the cart, daughter on Bimbi the mule, and Daddy standing behind. It was Christmas day, and he'd given Tip the mule and cart because she'd just had life-threatening kidney surgery, and he'd been frantic. If i haven't already, sometime I'll tell you about how manic I got after spending 12 days straight in a children's hospital, and she got roomed TWICE with with neglected babies whose families never visited them, and cried 24-7. Of course I tried to take care of them too, but at 1 AM on your 5th hospital night it's hard to be genial. I use my old trick of tying a silk sash around Tip's wrists and the other end to mine so if she needed me and I didn't wake immediately she could pull the sash so I'd wake. Daddy's wearing the ridiculous hat I gave him for Christmas, the biggest I could find but obviously not big enough. He had a big red bow tied around Bimbi's neck when he presented him to Tip.

This has been bothering me for over 24 hours now, so I feel I must clear the air. I did not, in any way, shape or form, mean to imply that you were drinking. It didn't even occur to me that you might be, regardless of others' perceptions of my post. You seemed so upset that I was worried, that's all.

Even though we aren't "close," I always read your posts, and enjoy your prose--you're a good writer.

I don't know anything of your illness(es), but I do hope you feel better soon, and that your Christmas will be peaceful.

            Love,
            Juja:l
Juja - HOW do you quote just one line from a post????? I have never been able to do it - I always get the whole post or nothing - please tell me - but explain it simply - LOL

Actually I picked the wrong post to put my message from but I know that you did do a post where you had just quoted one line. Hi everybody - back from work - went in for 2 1/2 hours to catch up on stuff before we opened then will go back at 2 for the closing shift - good job I like my job - LOL Now I have to iron enough clothes for the next three days so I don't have to worry about clothes. Also got the turkey out of the freezer 'cos I forgot last night. How on earth do I cook a turkey - guess I will use good old Google. My daughter asked me to cook it for her - me a veggie of 40 odd years cooking a turkey - good grief!!!!!!! Think i will just chuck it in the oven in aluminium foil for a few hours.

Yes Ruby - I do know you well - and we are all used to you using here as a venting place and don't mind in the slightest - this thread would not be the same without you doing that! How many people have you got coming to you for Christmas? it sounds like a LOT! I am pleased it is you and not me LOL After the run up to Vhristmas at work, I am looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas Day at my daughters then coming home to a nice quiet evening with the dogs - Hubs has to work. then I work at 6.00am the next day. so it will be an early bedtime anyway.

Jan - You are off until next Tuesday? how lovely for you! Wow - how will they manage without you? What are you going to do with all that spare time - LOL

I need to go and do my ironing - back later,

                hugs to all,

                love, sun XX

I'm going to be very busy today...still have to pick up a stocking stuffer for my thirteen year old nephew. I'm making a double batch of lefse today for family members. Got to get running!

OK, Sun, I'll tell you wha I do with my urkey, and it gets RAVES! The package should tell you the right temp and time to bake per pound. Wash and dry it inside and out. Then I make up a mix of mayo, seasonings, fresh minced rosemary, and rub the inside, outside, and under the skin. Then I stuff the inside with onions, apples minced garlic, citrus fruit, tie the legs together with twine, and bake it on a pan with a v-shaped rack, BREAST DOWN. About a half hour before it's supposed to be done, I turn it over to brown the breast. Seriously, I don't even like turkey, but this is delicious. You can baste occasionally if you want, but mine are always well-done and juicy.
