    The thing you have, Sun, that none of us posties had, was the respect of our employer.We were bombarded by terrible, unqualified managers promoted politically, and ever changing. We were addressed by our last name, not allowed anything personal in our area, pressured to carry more than was safe. But you obviously have a bunch of people who care about you, look up to you, and can't WAIT for your next sweet concoction to arrive. That's motivation. It's the difference in a government-run office and free enterprise, and I'd probably still be doing it if I worked with you. Have fun, and enjoy what you're doing. You obviously do, and I applaud it.

      So you were a mail carrier? My husband is, too, and it's killing his hands and shoulders. His stress is frequently palpable. We're hoping the P.O. stays afloat for 5 more years until he can retire; we'll need that insurance!

      I was in public education, and thought that was a mindless bureaucracy, but it doesn't compare to the P.O. I don't know what dolts run the place. At least educators sincerely cared about their charges and employees.

        Juja - my hubs work for the P.O. too - in the BMC and hopes to retire at the end of the year (2012) - he can't wait to get out! I agree with everything that both you and Ruby have said!! And yes, Ruby - I am lucky with where I work - although we did have one Store Manager who was the pits - I decided that I would wait him out - and did the right thing!! the one we have now is great! I love my job - and am so lucky!
        How simple it is to see that we can only be happy now and there will never be a time when it is not now....

            Juja, I actually worked in both, each for 12 years. NOTHING prepared me for the Post Office. I have NO illusions about why they're going down, but won't get into it. I just quit, because my body couldn't take it anymore, and my parents had both died. I still have wonderful friends from that time, but often I'll just say to Hubs 'I had the PO dream', and he understands. When I talk to my friends still working they say, it's worse than ever. Your hubby and I could probably agree on a LOT of the reasons for it's problems.
            I LOVED my time in the school system, but the money wasn't there. I took the job to be available while my children were in school. Other than a teacher, I had the top jobs in 3 different schools, and I enjoyed them all, but that was a long time ago. My first school I could walk out of my office and see every classroom door. That doesn't happen anymore.
            Did you read about my art projector? I figured you'd understand if anyone what that meant to an artist!!

                  I am so glad you and Fen hooked up. Fen is our quiet, witty fuzzy butt. She doesn't give herself enough credit and takes care of EVERYONE but herself.
