      Guy - have you wathed the rain in my heart documentary's - there is a whole post on here about them to links on u-tube. They are pretty disturbing, but they have stayed in my thought processes - a bit dark for NY, but eye opening...

        We've almost made it peeps!!!! Just a couple more days to go and our AF December is complete! Whoohoo! Well done, everyone!

            Not long until we can say we made it through December, 2011 including NYE! After that, let's conquer 2012 everyone. We are strong, we've made the decision that we want our lives to be better and we're taking control!!

            Guy, I plan on laying low for NYE too..........it's just another day............and what better way to ring in the new year than taking care to ensure that we set ourselves up for success in 2012?!!

            Sun, Wally, Scottish Lass, Alison, Running, Pinecone and all others on this thread, stay strong and know that we are so much better off without alcohol in our lives!

              That is a great idea Wally! Jan. is the month for New Year resolutions, this year I actually did a resolution (I usually forget about them or don't follow through) and my resolution was to quit drinking this year which I have. Feel free to start the group anytime Wally.

              And well done everyone! Just a few more days and those that has stayed the month sober can say that we made it through Dec. one of the tougher months sober!
              I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

              Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

              Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

                Unless you stay up all night and then it's just one more sleep until New Year's Eve.

                      This will be my first full year AF since 2007 (started drinking at the end of 2008). Before the end of 2008 I never drank. I know that I can make 2012 an af year. I got the cream soda for NYE.
                      I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

                      Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

                      Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

                        Alison, your story is different from most of ours here, isn't it? You are young - lucky you to have figured this out early on in your life. You will save yourself a lot of heartache!

                        BTW, just out of curiosity, what are you studying in school? I think you're in college, right?

                          Yeah. I wanted to bite it in the butt early but while doing this journey I discovered that it was tougher then I thought.

                          And I am in college to become a Humane Officer. I graduated from the Vet Assisting program this past Spring.
                          I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

                          Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

                            That's wonderful! I love animals but was always too soft hearted to help them like that. Pisses me off that I'm such a wimp, but I help them in other ways, i.e. donating $ to causes.

                              Hey guys-let's do AF January!

                              Not much left of December-all is well.
                              And yeah unwasted-90 days Sunday! Loving it!
                              I used to have really good champagne on New Years Eve; funny how traditions fit right into
                              a drunk life! SO this year I'll be having my usual Diet Coke, maybe I'll go wild and have a green tea!
                              Wouldn't it be great if we could all be here this time next year with all of 2012 AF!?

                                I am so on for this - what is a really great name - something we can really catch onto - there are so many of us begging to succeed in 2012 - I think we need something really exciting to call the thread! I am not the inventive one, but I will post daily if someone else brings on the title! I am on for an AF Jan 2012 - and maybe (arghhh - wish i didn't say maybe, but want to be true) AF 2012!!! LETS DO IT!
